A buddy wants a 6' to 6" spiral wrapped bait caster to use 3/4 oz. jigs with braided line for lake trout. It's a little heavier than I usually build and am wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a blank. Thanks, frank

Wow. Great responses, thanks. I'll find and order the blanks. Any suggestions on guide size and spacing for a bait casting set up? I've only built a couple of ice rods, I live in AZ and have never been ice fishing. A buddy wants a gift rod for his brother for lake trout thru the ice. He describes what he wants as: 1. 36" or a little longer, no shorter 2. A lot of backbone but some flexibility in the tip 3. 6 to 8 guides, more is better 4. baitcasting reel seat Any suggestions on a blank? Mudhole has a couple

I have several blanks that it want to build into bait casters. If I measure the blank diameter midpoint where the seat is to be mounted, is there a sizing or conversion chart to show me the correct size reel seat to buy? I can use a universal one with arbors, but prefer the one piece exposed blank models. I'd prefer to go a little small, I can always ream them a bit. thanks for the assist,

I'd like to try making fiber carbon grips. Any suggestions for a source of 6lb foam core in smaller quantites? I checked Fibre Clast, as suggested in Rodmaker vol 10 issue 6, but all I could find were pretty large quantities. Thanks Frank
