To answer the question why.
I have entertained the thought of adding another person to my rod building business to help with some of the demand but I still want to have control over the final product. I am thinking about having somebody help with tying and if possible add a coat of finish that would still allow me to do the final build. 2 part epoxy is too permanent and would cause a mess

Is there any other options to use for the first coat of glue on threads besides a two part epoxy? Maybe something that dries faster and will hold the guides in place before the second coat is applied?
Thank you!

I am one of the licensed users of Syncork and have been one of the first to use it. Most everything said about it is true.
This is a product that is not going to go away. You are right it is an aquired taste but once you get beyond that it is some of the best stuff made. I would say 75% of the bass, walleye and musky sticks I build have Syncork. There is no denying how the stuff performs.

I am one of two builders that have been using syncork ever since it came out. I have built fly, walleye, bass, musky and salmon rods using syncork with positive results.
The process of building a rod is the same but you do need special tools to sand and ream it. Syncork is the strongest form of handle material on the market today and the characteristics of syncork remain the same in any ki

I have always built using two coats of flexcoat on the sticks I build.
Has anybody else used anything that might be applied as a fast drying first coat instead of flexcoat?
Thanks Keith

6. Re: Syncork
I am one of the licensed users of syncork and have been since January. My rod building is more in the lines of building a tool. I do little to no thread art. I mention that to help you understand my feelings of syncork.
Syncork is a man made product designed and manufactored in the US. The designer is a long time rod builder and owner of Elliott Technology. Syncork is currently made in ri

What am I gaining on the RX8 blank that the RX7 blank does not have might be even a better question. Blank weight is close to the same..action seems the same...power is the same.
Thanks Keith

That is my fault. I should have explained more.
I am in the process of putting together some bass sticks and have been comparing the Loomis to Rainshadow. It is my intent to build on Rainshadow because of how easy the company is to work with. I was looking to gain some information on the Loomis so I can describe the differences to the folks I build for.
Is the IP844 or 845 the right blan

I have been looking for blank weight on the G Loomis MB844(IMX) blank and have not been able to find it.
Does anybody know what the blank weight is of that blank?
and how does it compare to the Rainshadow ISB 844 blank?
Thanks for the help.

I sent an email and opened my email address.
I am looking at adding some bass blanks and build some for myself. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I build mostly musky stuff but I got the bass bug late last year.

13. ATC rod blanks
Has anybody built on the ATC bass blanks?
I am told the company is owned by Bob Loomis and that they have some high quality blanks. I plan on ordering a couple to try if others have had good luck with them.
Thanks Keith

15. flexcoat cleanup
I have had drops of flexcoat drip onto my rod wrapper over the years and dry on. Wondering is anybody has found a cleaning solution that would take it off. I have a Batson wrapper.
Thanks Keith

where is a good place to get the threads mentioned and do I need to treat them differently when it comes time to glue?
Thanks for the responses.

I have been asked to do a firetiger wrap pattern using bright orange, yellow, chartreuse, and greens.
Looking for some thread help with that. Gudebrod does not seem to have the bright colors I am looking for and the National Tackle thread did not hold the color even after color preserver.
Maybe I did something wrong.
Thanks for the help

Looking for some help locating a 9 foot All Star heavy blank for musky fishing. Believe it is their surf series blank.
This was a special order and I have never built on their blanks before.
Thanks for the help.
