I recently acquired an 8' 4/5 wt hexagraph rod blank. I have built many graphite blanks and some bamboo. My question is how to prep the butt section for the reel seat and the grip? With traditional bamboo the butt section was milled down to accept the grip and seat. How do you go about it on a Hexagraph? I have waited years to find a blank and I don't want to mess up the build.. Thank you and a

Ken:I was going to try the same thing with some cork rings, use hot RIT dye. I was going to put the cork in a quart mason jar, pour in the hot dye mixture and vacume seal the jar and let it set for a couple of days. My thinking that the vacume would let the dye penetrate the pores of the cork? Just a thought. Mike
