Has anyone cut there reel seat? I never change the reel out on my rods. I noticed the threads are annoying. I would rather have my fingers on the Clark handle and now on plastic threat on the reel seat.

Has anyone that made a rod with Microwave Lite guides ever replace or change out the guides from damage from Braided line. I use 15 lb. 8 Braided and I do a lot of casting. The weight of the Bass is from 2 lbs to 6 lbs.

That I did not know. Thank you. I have made two rods and it was tough. Every time I find something that I have to work through. I am an armature with little experience. I read rod builders talk about things that amazed me. There are prows that share information and knowledge. Even as a new rod builder people help me out. This is what keeps me going. I am 67 years old and have had cancer two time

I have read the the Microwave Air guides are the best guides ever. I bit the bait and ordered a set for a 6'-6" rod. This is going on a bass rod. Has anybody try the Microwave Air Guides?

8. Epoxy
I use Flex Coat lite then I found a company from China had a two part epoxy for threads. I purchased a two oz to test it out. When I mixed the Chinese epoxy wow it gave off a smell that was very bad. I took it outside and opened up the windows. Thank God my wife was not at home. I went to the basement and took the fans upstairs. My clothing stunk. I had a bad headache even the next day. When my w

I made a spine finder and I was so proud of it. Now it will collect dust. My fault I should have asked everyone before I made one. I was having a very bad night and did this spine finder to get me through the treatment.

Can I use silicone fuel tubing to temporarily hold the guides in place? I am not skilled enough to use the glue stick for placing the guides in place. To the professional Rod Builders I am impressed by your skill level.

Thank you. I read where people concentrate on purchasing an expensive rod wrapper. There is so much to find out about the things like thread tension , guide placing, and applying epoxy..There is an unbelievable amount of skills used in rod building. Building my rod wrapper was easy compared to applying epoxy. I would not be able to get going in my hobby rod building.

Everything I have read tell how to find the spline and how to place them on top or the bottom. I see spine finder at Mud Hole catalog page 185. I made one in my shop. The two bearings were expensive. Now I find out this is not important .Thank you everyone for your input. I am just starting. My skill level is below an armature.

I am sorry. I am taking treatment for cancer. The pain is bad at times and the medication makes me stupid and tired. It's better than taking the pain. Rod building keeps me busy and takes my mind off of everything. If I survive I am going to Florida to go bass fishing. I can't even explain the stupid things I have done. I lost all my chargers to my chargers' to my battery operated tools. God what

19. Spline
I stripped an old Fenwick 6'-6" rod. I checked the spline. I was surprised to find the spline was off by almost 90° . Back in 1998 this was an expensive rod. I thought Fenwick was a good rod. I can't believe Fenwick skipped setting the spline.

I am making a rod wrapper. My question is how do I rout the thread from the spool to the row? I took a top to an old rod that I have to keep the tension. Any help would be a big help.
