The article in Rodmaker v10 #4 shows how to locate the placement of the choker guide. Measure the outside diameter of the front of the line spool lip in mm, and multiply that number by 27. That number becomes the distance in mm that that the choker guide is located in mm from the line spool face. The directions work very well.
My question is where did the number 27 come from? Just curious

I have been very satisfied with the J-knot for connecting the mono (regular or flourocarbon mono) to the braided line. I have tried several types of knots for this use, but they all had problems except for the J-knot. The knot is typically shown performing 3 loops for the completed knot. I usually do it with 5 loops.

David, try this web address "www.gpsagencies.com". The site will initially display an ad for alternative ivory. At the bottom of the screen click on "other materials". I think you will be impressed with what they have to offer. Hope this helps.

Everyone will have their own preference for any type of rod, but my personal favorite blank for the type of rod you are discussing is: All Star Titanium-BAST907FS Flipping 7'6"( very light in weight and extremely sensitive).
