Hey Roger thanks for the input, this is exactly what I was looking for. I got it to work with 13 guides but that seems like a lot to me. It's a pretty unique action and I think it will work well for big baits. How do you like your rod?

Thanks to you and Les for the help. I've never done a spiral wrap and not really sure how to even start. I played around with it some more tonight and got it to work I think. The first 6 or so guides are 3.5 to 4.5 apart and it leaves about 1/16 " between line and blank. the next 4 gradually spaced out between 6 and 9 inches and the reduction guides are 10-12" and I have 22" to

I'm building it for big swimbaits. It has a winn 4" rear grip and a 1.75 fore grip. This rod will very likely have some bend in first 5 inches...the tip is VERY soft. That is actually where I'm having the most problem. I am about 6" from the tip and the line is going under the blank.because of the soft tip. Look at it on NFC's site and they have a picture that will show you what I'

From the butt to the front of the fore grip is 18". The problem I am having is the design of the blank with a very soft 2 foot tip section, a moderate center section and the rest of the blank being quite stiff. It is similar to any other build until you start to get towards the tip. Then it is so flexible that you almost need a guide every 3-4 inches to keep from dropping below the edge o

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has built an 808 NEO casting rod and if so, how many guides, their size and their placement that you used.. I am in the middle of 2 line static testing and it is driving me crazy. I have seemingly way to many guides and I still can't keep the line from dropping below the blank. Is that something I am going to have to live with or has someone successfully figu

Thanks, the numbers are so odd I couldn't figure it out. Some are 3 digits, some are 5 digits with a decimal. It seems like some sort of barcode or sequential number system would make more sense. I appreciate your response.

Hey all, What are the colored pricing type stickers on the butt of NFC blanks?

I have gotten 5 in the last month. All are nearly perfectly straight except one that has the slightest bend about 2 inches from the tip. I am sure if you contact the company they will discuss it with you and do their best to help you out.

I hadn't even thought of that. I was thin king that they had to fit snug and it never really crossed my mind just to fill the gap with epoxy. If that is ok I will just go that way. Thanks.

I'm using the Fuji ACSM. I have seen the seats with the inserts but wasn't sure how to size them. Do I just ream the insert to fit the rod and then slide the seat over it?

Thanks for the advice. I didn't want to use tape for that very reason but, I didn't know if reaming would substantially weaken the seat.

Hey all, I have always used standard reel seats and tape or arbors to build up the blank. I want to use exposed blank seats on a few rods but none of them will fit exactly where I want them. Is it better to but the next size smaller and ream it to fit or, buy the next size bigger and tape it? Thanks in advance.

I have been using these cutters for years and they are great. If you need to cut zip ties these can cut so flush that it leaves no sharp edge to catch on things or scratch you. The work great at clipping spru off jigs heads or other molded lead items. As the OP said, don't cut steel wire with them but, they work great at cutting fine copper and brass wire (jewelry makers use them for that and)

Hey all, hope you are all having a great holiday. I am trying to order a few exposed blank reel seats as I have a few blanks coming and the rods need to be completed by the first week in Feb. Although I realize that there are going to be slight differences, even between blanks of the same model and batch, I was hoping some folks on here may have the same blanks and could possibly throw a calipe

I'm new here and for that reason I hesitate to comment. That being said, I think Aleks is being overly understanding in reference to the deleted post. "Just kill the thread Elon", which I agree is funny, seems to be a slap at Aleks and therefore NFC's perceived censorship. In my opinion, the OP was implying that being called out for a completely unnecessary and unwarranted personal a

If you go to their site and look for the comparator button it will open a window with 2 drop downs. On the right drop down type in the numbers for the blank you want to check and it will usually bring up several choices from different manufacturers. Click on the one you want and it will open up in the window. It gives you 4 test weights with each blank so you just click on what weight you want

Good question. If they all used the same weights to generate the deflection I could understand but, some similar blanks use weights that are not even close. That is why I have been using the rodhouse comparator.

I just wanted to give a bit of a shout out to VooDoo Rods. I placed an order with them at 11:48 PM on Friday the 25th. I received the items today in the early afternoon. I can't remember any company that has shipped that fast in a long time...maybe ever and, especially in the last 2 years. Essentially 2 days from Louisiana to Maine is almost unbelievable in today's day and age. Thanks for th

Hi all, new to the site and have a couple questions about a swimbait build. I just bought the NFC MB808 Xray NEO blank. I have built 8 or so rods but never anything this big. In reference to guides, would standard Alps guides work or should I go to the mediums? I have a set of lights on hand...would they work? Thanks in advance.
