Think of each pattern as starting with a single cross positioned in the centre of each square that represents a repeat. Your distances will be the distance between those initial crosses. It doesn’t matter how wide the pattern is, insofar as a repeat is defined by the size of the blank and the angle of the threads. A square pattern repeats at the size of the circumference of the rod. Of course t

30 minutes to create the pattern, seven hours to wrap it, and only 4.5 years to write the software!!! :-) Hopefully the long time spent developing the features in this software will save rod builders a lot of effort in the future. Release date to be announced shortly.

I spoke to lots of people at the show and the consistent feedback was that they enjoyed what they saw. For many it was their first show and were really excited with what they found. In my follow-ups with customers, many are telling me they are already making plans for next year. While the booths, seminars and products were great, as always it was the people that were the real highlight for me.

Come visit the VisualWRAP Enterprises booth (part of the NERBS collection of booths) and check it out. I'm looking forward to seeing you there as we celebrate 20 years since the launch of the VisualWRAP software. Tight Wraps! Dave Boyle THREAD ART IS NOT A CRIME

Thanks Tom, I'm looking forward to the show, seeing old friends and making new ones. This year the focus of the VisualWRAP Enterprises booth will be learning the art of decorative wraps. I have a new product being launched which I am hopeful will lower the barriers to entry of this wonderful aspect of rod building called Thread Art. Come along the show, marvel at the awesome rods on display in

As mentioned, Billy's book. Also look at "Custom Rod Thread Art" by Clemens. If you are serious about it consider attending the ICRBE in Feb. The NERBs will have a booth there. You can see some of the world's best thread art there, meet the artists, ask questions, and learn.

Does it have to be all or nothing? And where is your comfort zone? Maybe a strategy is to start selling and see what works. You might be surprised and find a niche that is not currently filled. Personally I like the “build it and they will come” approach. Dave

Thread art is not a crime. Neither is making a plain rod. How do you sell either? Billy mentioned education which I think is the key. Just because the rod is not decorated, does that mean it is automatically more functional? Create your own market. It takes work. Regards Dave

G’day, Vizwrap has no options for sizes of threads. It calculates the positions where layout threads need to start. For this reason there is no direct correlation between the number of threads shown on the screen and the number of threads you need to lay on your rod. What the software does is allow you to print the pattern true to size, so you can then measure from the printout the start or en

G'day, Following the successful launch at the recent ICRBE, printed Index Books have been added to the ThreadCentral download store. These are for users of the VisualWRAP software who would rather browse through a booklet of patterns than scroll through a PDF on their computer. Each book shows an image of the patterns available along with its number/name. Find the pattern that you or your cust

Sorry this is a bit late. Came back from the show then straight back into work and only now starting to get back into the swing of things. The ICRBE was great. Met many old friends and made many new ones. I was fortunate enough to give seminars on VisualWRAP and Rod Photography in the NERBs booth, and had a great time demonstrating my various products. Thanks to all those who dropped by, and e
