Ronald, All the above is excellent feedback. It's true that the technique of using the can eliminates air exposure. A vacuum is created as Perma Gloss is dispensed. Please note that as of several years ago we, at Trondak/U-40, began using a better cap for packaging Perma Gloss and providing an additional backup cap with each bottle. The old caps had a poly-cone liner. Unfortunately it w

Thank-you custom rod building community for your kind and thoughtful comments regarding Ralph O'Quinn, my father-in-law. He loved you guys, loved being with you, loved Tom Kirkman, loved coming to ICRBE. It was five years ago the hospital sent him home to die within two weeks, "maximum", from a double dissected torn aorta. A couple of months later when it became clear he wasn't goin

Hi MIchael, Two year old unopened Rod Bond is not a problem. It has a very long shelf life. You could almost say it has an unlimited shelf life. If, however, the "Resin" (white) part becomes difficult to stir then it has most likely become crystallized. The remedy for this is easy. Take the lid off and microwave it for ten second increments until it is relatively hot (the jar wi

Ten months ago we, Trondak, Inc. (maker of U-40 products) finally solved the problem of Perma Gloss pre-maturely setting up in the bottle. After a change of supplier of the main raw material two years ago we began to notice that Perma Gloss was setting up in the bottle even sooner than it had been before, though the material was virtually the same. Before the change, however, we were not seeing

Hi Gerald, I use exclusively Trondak's Dura Gloss LS Supreme, but then again, being one of the owners, I am a bit biased. Best Wishes!

Hi Col, Our company, Trondak, makes Perma Gloss. Acetone works great as a brush cleaner for Perma Gloss. Best Regards, Dan Metcalf dmetcalf@aquaseal.com Trondak, Inc. www.U-40.com

Hi Ray, Sorry to take so long to respond. We make the Perma Gloss. Hardening in the bottle is the result of air moisture acting as a catalyst. Someone has probably already explained this to you. The easiest remedy is to pour the amount you need for the rod you are building into a separate container and work out of that. As soon as you pour some out wipe off the bottle lip and put the cap

Karry, Thanks for the comments regarding Quik-Bond! It was great to hear that it was doing a good job for you. Perhaps it will serve the needs of custom rod builders as much as Rod Bond. This year I am just beginning to learn to catch bass on a fly since the trout don't bite. Having fun. Say hi to all, Dan Metcalf Trondak, Inc.
