Cheap but one of my favorites... DELTA 664MB. Great jerkbait rod, top water poppers, and way more sensitive than the money suggests. It's a must buy for the $35ish they go for. It one I always have in the boat.

Best method for single coat? Tom's brush method with high build? I don't have 2 coat patience. Thanks

Alex, Am I wrong assuming.... A 5 power should be a 5 power. I don't care how many ferrule you add ... Adjust the wall thickness and make it perform like a 5 power... Why do I want a 5 power that performs like an 8 power? Now we have an overly heavy heavy blank that doesn't perform as intended... I get the physical reasoning as to why there are changes. My question is, why don't

Yes, the travel blank sections a bit of a mess. I've made comments and seen no change. It seems off to have numbering be all over the place. Blank weights, lure ratings... I also go back to the 80/20 rule...why is there so many options. Most people want a 7' M, MH, H bass rod, a 6'10" walleye jig rod, a swimbait rod or 2, and some inshore and boat rods. Currently they have 48

Hello, Looking at the LMX MB758-4. Says it's Fast action rated 1-6oz . Curious of the bend profile and actual "sweet spot" on that lure rating. I was hoping it was more in the 1-3oz than the 3-6oz. Thank you if any one has info.

I have had ups and downs with NFC. Alex has really made some great improvements. That said, they could really use some SKU rationalization and reallocation of time. The 80/20 has to apply and they make 100s of blanks. If they cut it back significantly, they would still have plenty of variety. They could have better inventory management, and hopefully better QC as they should become more fa

I build mostly NFC and Point Blank Bass rods. All 7'-7'5" in length, ultra light guides Fuji lkw, carbon grips, ECS seats. Most rods weigh in sub 100-120 grams before I balance. All of these rods no matter how short or long the handle have ever been "balanced" as is. They were all tip heavy. I've let everyone feel them before and after putting tungsten putty in the butt

I'm intrigued in the weight savings by cutting 10 inches off of the most heavy part of the blank. That said I'm curious what it's going to do to the balance point. You should be able to take whatever weight you removed from the blank and put it directly in the butt Gap for a lighter but overall balanced feel. I'm going to assume it gets pretty narrow around the reel seat.

I get what you are saying... Why throw your number rating system out the window? Why not make the wall thinner and achieve actions we are familiar with? Gary is know for his MB705...Why would you not try to copy that action? Why would you give me a 705 that's rated to 3oz? Seems like these blanks were not very thought out. Additionally, I don't understand why they make so many mod

Alex, I'm confused on what the true power and action are. The lure ratings, line ratings, and blank weights are nothing like your traditional blanks. I cannot purchase these without better info. Give us the edge reel seat! I love the one on my First Strike Kickstarter rod. It really sinks the reel lower as the core is off center.

Leaned over the rod drying to grab something. Drawstring on my sweatshirt got caught in the epoxy of the stripper guide. I didn't notice until it was getting tighter and tighter. Rod turned out okay but I have black fuzzys in my lime green wrap haha.

Welcome! You can build a fly rod with a cardboard box. As Norm said, the small sections are super easy. If I could do it all over again I would but more Flex Coat products. For a fly rod, the CRB hand wrapper would be a great choice. It is what I still use in a modified way. The build kits are okay. If you like high end things, you are going to want to build a full custom. I built an N

Delta MB664 It is the greatest jerkbait and light topwater rod there is. I built it with a short handle so it fishes closer to a 6'8". It can cast a 110 but has backbone to fish +1 or deeper jerkbait. Plenty of rod to throw a shower blow shorty or popper. BUY THIS BLANK! I promise you will be surprised and it's a @#$%& of a value. I want to build two more identical rods. Threw

I like the look and line path of a tip top .5 to a full size bigger than the runners. Thank same size tip usually sits lower and doesn't suit my eye.

Fuji all the way! SS Alconite is a great value. I would stay away from CRB. I ordered two sets and they were so bad. Crooked feet and no consistency. I had to grind and bend them to get them to work. I've used 100 Fuji guides in the past 2 years and they were perfect.

Interested if I'm the only one, but I go up a half size for the tip top. It looks pleasing to my eye and static loads better keeping the line ever so higher off the tip section.

Alex, Looking at the SJ703 C6O2. It is listed at 1.4oz. The standard Xray SJ703 is listed at 1.3oz. Can you clarify the weight difference? I thought the C602 would be lighter. Thank you, Rob

I don't subscribe to the no weight crowd. Almost every rod feels better with 5-10 grams of counter balance. If you emphasize a clean light build everywhere else, the overall rod weight will still be very light. I use tungsten putty for pine car derby kits. One example of adding weight to the extreme is my Megabass Lavante Laviathian. It is a 7'10" swimbait rod rated to 8oz and it

For me, my preferred handle lengths is derived from two variables. First and most important, what technique is the rod going to be used for? What baits, what action is being imparted to the bait, what line and power is needed for landing target fish. For example, my go to jerkbait rod is a 6'6" blank. I enjoy a very short handle of 7.75" from rear of reel seat. In turn, like you

I wanted to say thank you again! I successfully wrapped a 9-ft fly rod with 10 or 11 snake guides and a frog rod yesterday. I only had one guide needing to be redone. Two big ah ha moments... - insert earlier, almost twice as much as I was doing previously. - untied pull loop and pull one end through Previously I was using a pull loop I made with a knot in it. I didn't realize how mu

Iay try Norm's advice and insert sooner for the cut and pull method. I did a rod where I left the tags on all the guides so I could straighten them. I had some come unwrapped when having to move a guide...again, maybe I had them too tight because it was tough to move them. I have 7 rods with handles glued. This was going to be relaxing I told myself. I do more cursing than golf haha. B

I also let the blank tell me where to put the seat. On some of the fast actions, I don't want the handle too long and make it more moderate in action.

I've added weight to over half the casting rods I have built. You wouldn't notice as they are still incredibly light. Most times it is 5-10 grams. For instance, an NFC X 736 with a 10'' split carbon handle needed 7 grams. It went from slightly tip heavy to floating in hand. I added 15 grams to a 709HM to get it to feel amazingly noble in hand. Dobbins rods are in excellent example of t

Thank you! My breaks were on the pull through. Using other D thread. I can do it with braided line but still have to give it a good tug. Seems like when I watch videos they pull through with less force. What is a good time to shoot for to wrap a 7' rod with 9-10 guides? I feel like it should only take and 90 minutes, but I can spend all night and have many redo wraps. Lastly, I

Hello, I am new to the hobby and have done 6 rods. I wanted to get into more decorative wraps but have trouble just keeping my standard wraps clean. I've given up with size A. How do you all make it look so easy? I have the CRB wrapper but wonder if tention is too tight. I will break thread pulling through sometimes. On video folks just pull it so easy. I use size D and it is easier
