Hi Ed, If you are referring to the ones announced and released a few days ago. I don't think anyone will have a feedback that soon given the (~90 days) for deliveries. I've fished two rods from another brand that happens to source their blanks from NFC. I am not entirely sure I can disclose the name but all I can say is, if these new blanks from NFC are the same then YES it's going to be a

Daryl, I think your way of delivering an advice may have come out like you have something against NFC from past experience. In all the years of buying materials and equipment in different sectors I can tell you that NFC ain't bad at all. In fact beside Joe Goodspeed, I don't know anyone who's out and about trying to listen to customers. Alesk is actually out here and was willing to listen t

Well the thing is you're roasting NFC but never really bought or attempted to buy from them solely based on feedback? I am totally willing to wait 6 weeks or more for a blank that's really worth it. I've waited 9 month for a blank from Maxia (the worse customer service I've seen in this industry). At the end of the day, feel free to throw a ref or two of blanks that are really worth it in your o

Hi Harry, I could talk for hours about the questions you had. Just to circle back it isn't about leader breakage but wrinkles that appear on the line from the friction, repeated casting and hooking fish and fighting them, the section of leader going back and forth in your guides are always the same. But we are talking about long days of fishing, of course you replace your leader material as

Assuming you are talking about the RSFB, just from my own experience, I would avoid these and opt in for the RSFXB. The lightweight RSFB are really thin and they will wear out over time,

Hi Harry, Thanks for the details. Your approach is good, you did the load testing and then went with the "how it feels". It's quite challenging to make an 11ft super light nymphing rod that has some versatility to be used as a dry rod. I would have gone down the same path of adding the extra guide as long as it helps with how the lines flows through. Would have been interesting to

I actually wonder how many members are completely skipping the buy and sell section of this forum? Quite frankly, while I love this forum's content I am really finding it extremely archaic in terms of its overall usability. Since NFC bought it I though maybe they'd try to bring some extra functionalities but I guess it worked for decades and will keep working the same way for years to come.

I knew this discussion would go on and on. Many interesting points were made and we could certainly talk about it for hours. It comes down to all the possible ways to justify a decision. In you very specific approach, and only considering guide selection, I'd try to find out what the long distance casting champions are using and would their material selection apply to the type of water you

Meanwhile... I am still sitting here wonder when if a fly version will ever be release? I actually just looked at my lightest fly reel seat and trying to compare it without the screws and cap I am at 10.7grams. I'd be so interested to see NFC to release a "on piece" handle & reel seat. Or at least a reel seat.

Thanks a lot Harry! Since you ordered the O-rings I presume you did a static load testing to find the "ideal" positioning of the guides? I am really looking forward to hear your comparison between the NFC - Diamond Back and the CTS. I know they're very different but I'll still be curious to hear your feedback. If you ever happen to be near WA state or British Columbia, let me kno

Go with Torzite for your stripper guides. REC instead of snakes And tip-top REC aren't great, go for the PacBay CFTL or CFTXL

Thanks Aleks, Would it be good to go for the cold carbon grip? I am debating because of the amount of rain we get in the pacific northwest. Is there a table to "match" the grips reference codes or maybe an easy way to get around it? Maybe some matrix table with recommended grips per blanks? Thanks, Ben
