Update, called mudhole as suggested and they were extremely helpful. The customer service rep was so nice he wouldn't even need candy to get me into the van. They had me destroy the handle and are sending a new one out.

Ron,
I was just asking what I should do about it or if I could do something like put a coat of finish over it. I don't expect anyone to do anything about it. I probably didn't need to ask but I wanted to know if there was anything I could do to quickly fix it while I'm stuck home for the next few days.

Joe, that is the tubing I bought. It is almost like there is an impact divot in the tube. I contacted mudhole but it'll probably be a hot minute before they get back to me.

Just did. This annoys me more because I'm going to be home for at least the rest of the week because I got my appendix out last night.

I just got my mudhole carbon fiber handle tubing in and to be honest it looks pretty terrible. It has a line spiraling up it but it also has a handful of dips in the tube. I'm building my first rod and I can't really see myself being happy with this handle. Am I able to put a coat of Finnish on it or something like that? Is the tube supposed to be like that?

I was wondering what blades you guys use to cut thread on the ends of your wraps? I've been using utility/box cutter blades that I gave a couple passes on a leather strop loaded with buffing compound. Would double sid d razor blades or X-Acto blades be sharper and/or better to use?

I did a quick google search and found nothing so I’m asking you. What does ERN stand for? It seems that it’s the actual power rating of a blank
Edit: I did more looking and found out more about it. Still don’t know what the acronym means.

That sound cool but terrifying, but at the time i would guess the pucker factor was pretty high.

Jim, I just watched the video and that is really interesting. I don't know how I feel about it even after seeing results, but I don't know all that much about rod building. I'll look around the web to find some firsthand reports.

Thanks Roger, that $10 motor looks like it might be the ticket for me. I'll pick one of them and some pvc up, I already built some stands out of ash.

Thank all of you for your advice, when time comes for finishing I think I'll stick around for the first hour or so and watch it then set 10-15 minute timers.

Just wondering if there's anything I specifically should do for ferrules. I saw somewhere to wrap wax paper around the male end of the ferrule when I coat the thread in case of epoxy spilling over.

Does anyone have tips for finishing wraps without an electric dryer? Do I really have to spend the money on one? Should I use high build or low build finish? I'm building a two piece blank, any tips for ferrules?
Thanks for all your guys' help

I realized now that they are just Fuji's "special" aluminum oxide rings.

Does anyone here have experience with the Fuji concept O rings? In my case specifically for runners on an UL KR concept setup. Weight? Durability? Smoothness? I haven't seen much information out there so I figured I would use that as an excuse to make a thread asking about them.

Would Fuji SiC guides for reduction then alconites for runners be okay? I'd use SiC runners but that is a bit on the expensive side for me.

Thanks for the advice, so I don't have to set up my handle/reel seat before ordering guides?

Must have missed that, size 6F runners are big for ultralight? Didn't realize that. I guess I should build my handle then figure out guides after I get my reel attached.

22. UL Guide Sizing
I am building a Rainshadow REVS72UL-2SB blank (7'2" 2 piece ultralight) mostly for trout. I'm going to use a CF TN handle and have a Lew's Mach 2 spinning reel sized 100 I am going to pair with it. I'm looking at Pac Bay guides, and from my understanding the going recommendation is to use the high frame M guides for the reduction train then F fly guides for the running guides. Would going

I have done fair bit of researching into T grips and I read multiple places about slip rings not working on CF or Texalium handles. I’m planning on using self adhering silicone tape to attach the reel. But I’ll try that method on an ice rod before I build a rod with that in mind.

I'm going to use a carbon fiber TN handle on my first non practice build. I'm building an UL trout/crappie rod.
