Hello,
Looking for comments on the first two guides for my next build. It’s a NFC LMX 9’ 10wt.
I am considering either a 16 and 12 or 20 and 16 for stripper and next gudie.
So the question is really 20 vs 16. What’s difference here? Does really even matter?
After posting this I saw the thread below it with couple folks commenting that 16 is all you might ever need. Any comments stil

Thanks for all the information and tips. I am likely going leave the broken blank for now and get a replacement.

Hello,
I haven't posted in a while but I am still building rods. I appreciate the knowledge and discussion here.
I recently purchased two NFC C562-1 (IM) blanks, these are 5'6" light power, fast action, lure 3/16-1/2. These will be spinning rods, used almost exclusively for vertical jigging for walleyes. The problem is I accidently broke about 2.5" inches off the tip of one of th

Hey Norm,
Just re-read your post. When you say overlap the hole, do you mean the plug goes on the outside of the blank and ends up between the blank and the grip - plug is female end, blank is male end? So overlapping the blank, similar to a fighting butt on a fly rod or how a one would plug a copper plumbing pipe and then glue that and that to the grip? Hopefully this makes sense.

Hello,
My recent purchase of a Arctos 5'9" spinning rod (thanks for the guidance on the guides) included a rear grip with a rounded composite cork butt (no but cap required) but also has a hole in it - duh of course it does, how else would you ream it out. My problem is I didn't purchase the composite cork plug that is supposed to go with it. I would rather not make another order, any tho

Hi Isaak,
I am interested in hearing how your jigging rod turns out. I have built one and starting another now - vertical jigging specific rods.
My first was a 6' L CS721-MHX 'shooter' blank, which turned out well and after one season I liked it. The second build I am going even shorter with a 5' 9" ML ASJ691 PB Arctos.
I am curious if you targeted the REVS62ML-SB for that specif

Hello,
I am curious how others add alignment dots on ferrules?
I have only done it once and used a paint marker - it has a pen point that retracts and releases paint. I toggle it a couple times to get the paint flowing on the table or paper etc and add a dot by 'eye balling it' - This has worked although i have to admit I had to wipe off the dot a few times to get it perfect. The other iss

10. CRH blanks?
I have seen few CRH blanks on @#$%& list for about $40 USD. I cannot seem to find any information about these blanks. Has anyone heard of these or had any experience with them?
Thanks.

Being old to fishing but new rod building, understanding all the products and marketplace is dazzling but also part of the fun. So here goes what might be a series of questions/discussion points...
I purchased a 8 wt Baston Revelation fly rod blank, price was right, it looked 'good' and action etc is what I wanted but I have no barometer to compare other than price. I am curious about peoples

Thanks guys for the replies and Norman for all that detail – and saving Marks fingers. I am going to use your suggestion to make my purchase and am excited to get started. Naturally this has raised a few questions. The number of guides and size Norman indicated is a bit different than commercially available rods and the guide spacing charts. They seem to include/recommend larger size and less num

Mark I would take you up on this, it would be nice to have something to compare the static test to. The

Thanks for the quick replies. Glad to see this is an active forum with lively debate. I have seen both the MicroWave guides and the Fuji KR. I have to admit I have the Fuji's in the online shopping cart but will have to take another look at the MW for the future. In my first two builds I just took the guide spacing from a chart and haven't tired the static test. I will have to give that a go on t

Hello,
My first post here. I tie flies and the pandemic has 'driven' or perhaps 'guided' me to rod building. I have build two rods (6wt fly and 6' light spinning) and looking to diver deeper in! So, thanks in advance.
I am interested in short spinning rods which are my preference when jigging for Walleyes. I am looking at the Arctos ASJ691, which is a ML 5'9". Pac Bay doesn't provide
