Hi all: I will paste the email Mike Thorson from Batson sent me: (By the way, it was a quick response, excellent company)
sounds like you put a beautiful rod together! The finish on the Alps reel seats is anodized so it is pretty durable. I would try this: Take a heat gun and warm the seat up in the area where the glue is! There are some PVC parts on the reel seats, the delrin washers betwee

Hi all: I desperately need your help. I just finished a beautiful rod and used an Alps aluminum blue reel seat. I finished the rod then noticed a small amount of dried up epoxy on the reel seat top near the grip. Is there a way I might be able to remove the epoxy without damaging the paint on the reel seat. Please help, I need to ship this out by Thursday.
Thank You.

Thank you, for all your help. I just purchased this morning the CRB Medium Duty Spin/Cast Guide - Model MD. Not really happy with crb, but mudhole stock is limited. I am going to cancel and look for a guide as per your recommended specifications. Any ideas as to where I can find a good selection of guides? I like mudhole, but tired of them pushing crb.
Thanks guys.

Hi all: I posted awhile ago about a tautog/blackfish rod I want ot build. I am using the Rod Geek XC733 blank (Thanks for your help Billy V) I am rather confused with guides, although after all the research I found that Alconite is the way to go for those who use braid. I purchased the red sable brushes from mudhole and found that they are garbage and shed hairs almost every time. This is the first time i used a sable non-disposable brush and I found that i like the soft bristles and the different sizes available vs the small disposables.
Does anyone have any recommendations on a quality brush that has soft bristles and come in various sizes. The flexcoat

Hey Bill, what do you think about the Rainshadow blanks for Taug? If so, any recommendations on which one?
I like the geek rod blank, but I can get Rainshadow for a better price.

Thank you Bill, I will definitely check them out. I think I am going to make two blackfish rods even if the season is coming to a close.
Thanks

Hi All: I am looking to build a couple of tautog/blackfish rods being that this is the time of year where they can be fished. Can anyone recommend a good blank with specs that I can use for this purpose? I believe a fast action, 20-30lb blank is a start. I like American Tackle but I am open to any brand that will give me a good quality rod.
Thanks
