That's totally fair. Just unexpected... I haven't had any issues on any other tip sections. My heat may have been high, I generally keep rotating the blank when i'm heating it up, but i'll have to do some more R&D.
Thanks

Hi all. I was in the middle of repairing a tip section, replacing some guides because of saltwater corrosion... and as I was heating the epoxy up to cut into the thread wraps the blank literally folded in my hand. The break was underneath the thread wrap. My initial intention was to clean the section up and insert a dowel with another broken tip section I had... no big deal, right? Except there w

It was 8 hours into the cure, and 11pm. I let it set til this morning... but I agree, had it not be cured I would have done that. I tried to rub some of the caught fibers away with a bit of success... I will try again soon to capture the rest with some alcochol now

I was careless... is the simple way to start this. I had a shop rag on a table, I was looking the butt section of a rod build maybe 8 hours into an epoxy cure (1st coat). I raced to the rod from another part of my workshop and the only though

Ok, AWESOME answers here. Thank you everyone.
A quick update: with all the feedback, it sounded like the 2 part epoxy for cork to blank was the more favourable... Titebond for Mandrel. I ran a strength test anyway on the 2 part pro kote and titebond blend, it was not inconvenient by any means to utilize both.
It took a lot of twisting and bending on a blank section to separate the cork rings.

Hi all -
I've done a lot of reading on this topic, but there isn't too much clarity around what i'm looking for specifically. There are a few schools of thought, but I wondered if personal experiences would help to solve some of the challenges i'm concerned about.
Firstly, I build my grips from individual cork / rubberized rings directly on the blank using a combination of 2 part bonding epox

Hi all -
First time poster ...longtime creep. I have a build that i'm trying to get going but am hesitant about the decal because of the rise. The decal is a must in this build. The rod is a graphite blank with a painted finish, i'm wondering if someone might entertain my idea to reduce any major bulkiness around the decal (1/128th of an inch thick - it's almost like cardstock)
First thought:
