Thanks Tom, I can read it's a very strong epoxy... before now I only knew the "usual" Pro Kote and Flex Coat for wrapping purpose and U-40 Rod Bond for grips and reel seats. Glad to hear there is something more technical foir my purpose! Thanks for your advices Gianmaria

Hello folks, turning a 2-pc rod to separate sections, solid carbon ferrule came out from butt section. It was glued with some yellow glue, about 30 years old. Unfortunately butt secton edge has crackled too. I'd try to repair it with epoxy and tightening edge with some kind of metal ring to apply constant pressure during curing time, then place tight nylon wrap to strenghten the edge and, obvi

Perhaps I've found a way to do the job. Using an acrylic 2k transparent paint (NOT EPOXY) and dosing 6.5 grams of paint (it's a 10:3, so 5g resin + 1.5 hardener, in my case) and 40 drops of liquid acrylic pigment (for one coat, if you need a more intense color apply a second coat). 6.5 grams are enough for one coat of half a 7" spinning rod. I MADE IT WITH A NORMAIL AIRBRUSH! And, o

I've watched Lamiglas' video many times (always funny to me) and I can see the blanks passing thru a rubber disc with a center hole and a black goo covering the blank entirely, that doesn't help me much, it's compicated. I can try writing to Lamiglas but maybe they would decline my request because of industrial process secrets and so.. G.Loomis declined my request a couple of years ago so I st

Thanks Roger, I have already tried all resin-specific dye type available on the market, both alchol-based and ink-based. To achieve the desired effect I should use the same amount of dye and resin, resulting in a chewy honey which is difficult to catalyze correctly. I'd need a more concentrated dye, maybe not specific for the epoxy world but compatible with it.

Hello there, I'm doing some experiments on re-painting a stripped blank. My aim is to rebuild its original aspect, I mean a clear finish with semi-transparent dye to keep graphite spirals visible with a caramel-like color. It seems I've found the right finish (acrylic paint in 2k flavour, to be spayed with an airbrush). The problem now is the dye... usual epoxy pigments/inks are not strong

Yes, super Stinger is very close to my ideas, I have one of those here but I need at least two reel seats to buld two rods. I'd prefer to strip it down from an old Fenwick than any other method. I've planned a method to use standard IPS reel seats with some lathe job but later abandoned: The wanted result is this, an additional hood collar and golden trim ring will be added and a marb

Yes, just the two "plastic" parts. Tomorrow I can post a picture of the stripped reel seat

Thanks for your participation but they are not the same thing. Anyway, the closest reel seat is Fuji IPS, not HPS and needs some lathing job to mimic the original. The easiest way is to find an old rod to be stripped down. Thanks anyway

Hello guys, I'm looking for some old Fenwick spinning rods, also broken sticks are welcome. I mean 90's series as Eagle, Legacy, Golden Wing, HMG, those with that ugly proprietary hooded reel seat, also used by some Berkley and Cabela's IM6 rods. I need the grip part to get a clean reel seat for a restoration job. Here are some pictures of the reel seat I mean. Many thanks

Thanks Norman for your patience. In effect I've been plotting a job plan a couple of years ago, using standard Fuji components and a little lathing (with the help of a friend). Here's attached the main blocks scheme. As you can see they match your suggestions almost perfectly... I've been thinking at a 90's Fenwick reel seat for a brand-coherence reason and because it's almost ready

The reason of my search is rebuilding a rod which I love, in my way. If standard reel seats were good this post would have no reason to be written, so neither read. I want to build a handle like the new Fenwick Tiemco rods as in the below attached pictures. The closest method to achieve this reel seat is a modified Fuji VSS but requires lathe skills. Already discussed with Matagi's Mamoru Tsur

Thank you for your suggestions (unfortunately website names were censored). I guess the right place to look for it it's this community. As you can read from my message, broken rods are also welcome due to my SPECIFIC need of the reel seat only. I don't think buying a pre-owned rod to completely tear it down in order to get the reel seat would be an acceptable option, unless it's the ONLY way bu

Hello everybody, I'm looking for an old Fenwick spinning rod (mainly from 90s like Legacy, Golden Wing, HMG etc.. ) sporting a handle like in the attached picture. Broken rods are also welcome, even better than the whole rod. Just need it to rebuild a Fenwick rod with "family" components.... Many thanks Gianmaria
