Nice! I wondered about doing that. I don't have a lathe. Do you think it could be done by hand?

Speaking of Ugly Stiks, you can't build or buy a better, tough as nails, abuse taking, cheaper and yes, uglier snapper bottom fishing rod than an Ugly stick! Just sayin' ; )

Got a pic of those wraps, Kent. I'd like to see it as it may be something I might like to do.

Just did a test on one Fuji orange with a silver thread under and one Fuji orange with a gold under. Watching the epoxy dry now. It is fantastic. The orange without the underlay was flat and frankly ugly. Thanks Jim Ising from the Gator color post. I'm going to Auto Zone tomorrow for some silver and gold pin striping paint.

I built a Gators rod with a blue CRB color series blank and a metallic orange thread. I think it was tangerine CP thread. The orange color was nowhere close to Gator orange once I applied the epoxy. Probably should have under wrapped or painted under the tangerine. Turned out nice, but definitely not Florida gator color.

I think filing the top of a painted foot causes a few issues.

Thanks guys. That is what I thought. I have been bending them flat so far but started to doubt myself when all of them shared the same characteristic.

I have noticed that all of the eyes I am using are fabricated so the tips of the feet both touch the blank but the rest of the length of the foot is slightly above the blank. Is this ok? If so, why?

I have noticed that some spools of thread are more susceptible to breaking than others, Haven't figured that one out yet but I'm betting that over tight wraps are a factor. The grey one hates me.

1) I'm in my office at home. 8 hours has always been long enough to dry the epoxy. 2) Tiny guides. The little red rubber rings on the "tree" available from most suppliers works pretty good. I use paper bread twist ties for most of the eyes. 3) Shim up the stands or buy straighter blanks. 4) I'm in a climate controlled environment so I can't help with that. 5) I use two (or three

The spine matters on a casting rod. I've had the rod spiral under load when it has not been spited properly.

I thought the spine determined that.

Any 7' medium power blank with a fast tip will work fine for the heaver popping cork. I use what we call a rattle cork which is light weight sliding foam cork with an internal 8" stiff ss wire looped on both ends and a couple of plastic "rattle" beads both above and below the foam cork. When you pop the cork, the beads simulate the sound a shrimp makes when it "pops" t

Cut down the 10" to the length you need. A brand new razor and a ton of patience will do the trick. Sand it to make it look exactly like the original end you cut off.

See what bending the rods and straightening out the fishing lines looks like. That'll narrow up the whole logo a good bit. Looks like a cool logo.

One final option is to contact a local hotshot outfit and ask them to piggyback on another shipment. That price is always negotiable.

The 7' med/lite with 9 double foot eyes plus a tip is awesome on speckled trout. Its pretty much a 1/4oz jighead and rubber combo rod. I build it with 7" double tenant premium cork grip, a 2" fore grip, a composite reel seat. Landed a pair of 15# reds on a lite power with the same components. That took way too long. Need a medium power for that. Just fried up a batch of crispy spe

New to the hobby. Built 20 rods so far. All have been 6'6" or 7' med/lite to lite action rods. Average cost has been about $65 per build. Mostly casting with a few spinning mixed in. Going down to my place on the gulf coast of Louisiana tomorrow for a few days to get on some inside speckled trout, reds and flounder. I am bringing all of my builds for testing and selling. I gotta say,

I just finished building 6 unsanded blanks I got from Get Bit. Good looking rods and the thread laid on nicely.
