Thanks for the reply’s, I started my rod building with the CRB thread wrapper that has the orange fiberglass rod and it recently broke. I guess i’ll try wrapping without one and see how it goes, I do find the rod convenient most of the time but sometimes it’s a pain in the butt. I will pick up some wire just incase.

Russell, Thats very interesting about the trolling weight, I always assumed it was the casting weight. I looked at the SJ9000 and the only problem is that its 7'6'' and I have to keep the length to 7' so it can fit it in the back of my truck. I'm not just a MHX fan, I've been looking at as many other brands as I can ( there are just to many ) for a med-light that is 7' and rated for 1/16-3/8. See

I’ve been going through the same thing, I fish the flats and mostly throw a 1/8 oz bait. I recently built a MHX- SJ842 ML and it’s a good rod but a little stiff for what I do, I was thinking about a SJ 841 L but was concerned it would be to soft and flex to much. The NP842 elite-x looks like it might work as it’s a ML but rated for 1/16- 3/8, I haven’t been able to get any feed back on that rod a

Roger thanks for the info, I liked how easy the link made wiring the switch.

ops, I did fail to mention it’s a DC motor, I think i’ll add a switch as it would be nice to change directions. My 9rpm dryer is AC and you can just grab it and change direction. Roger on your 50rpm motor is that direct drive, I was thinking about converting my 45rpm to a faster speed with a larger motor as it has a really small motor with 5 small gears to the final drive.
Thanks for the info.

I have a variable speed ( 0-45rpm) 24 volt dryer and would like to change the direction so it runs backwards, can I just reverse the leads that are attached to the back of the motor. Tried looking it up on line but some say yes and no.

It seemed to me that the 10 minute pot life did not help in making it wavy, I’m in Florida working in my garage with air temp of 85+. I had touched up a couple of guide wraps and moved to the butt wrap and the mixture was already getting a little thicker. I only have a 9rpm dryer and I’m guessing it’s to slow for the flex coat lites pot life, I just ordered a variable speed dryer which should wor

Tried Flex Coat Lite for the first time and two coats on the guides look good, the problem is it did not come out well over a long decal. I put the decal down and covered it with a two thin coats of CP which worked out well, the problem occurred when I applied the Flex Coat Lite over the CP it came out lumpy and inconsistent. I tried removing as much as I could and ran a flame by the finish but i

Some say it will make the thread run off smoother, I have the CRB with the fiberglass rod and I really hated how inconsistent the thread came off with the springs. I find the magnets are not perfect but they are way way smoother then the springs, it’s really worth a try for the cost.

Been wanting to try rare earth magnets on my thread wrapper but can not find any info on what size to use, I’ve looked at several photos of wrappers with magnets and they appear to all be different sizes. Could really use some help on what size to get ( diameter, thickness, pull force, plating) and where to purchase. Thanks

Thanks guys, the goop sounded good until the clean up. I’m going to try the glue gun as I have the sticks in different strengths . For some reason epoxy on a small Eva butt cap just seems like over kill.

15. Eva Butt Glue ?
Hi, Had to remove a damaged EVA foam butt cap from a two piece handle that was epoxied on. Was wanting to use a glue rather then an epoxy to make removing and clean up easier for the next time. Has anyone used a glue that was strong enough, I was thinking just good old contact cement. Thanks

Thanks for your replies, I will be going with the 20H as your comments about it being more versatile then the 16H was something I had not thought about.

I'm using a 3000 spinning reel with 20LB braid on a 7' medium light rod. When I use the KR GPS it shows two different reduction size set ups for 20LB braid, one for 10/20LB braid as 16H,8H,5.5M and one for 20/30LB braid as 20H,10H,6L. My question is which would work better with the 7' rod as I will always be using braid with this set up and in the event I ever wanted to try 15LB braid. This is my
