Hi fellow rodbuilders. I'm truly great full for each and every piece of advice given on above mentioned topic. I feel much better to start this project. I'm just waiting for the PG to arrive, I've already got myself a vapour mask and about 30+ cosmetic sponges. I have 2 more questions to ask you please. 1. Do I have to worry about amino blush being trapped between blank and PG? 2. How

Hi guy's, I've never used PermaGloss before and have a client that want a clear coat on three "14" 3piece rods. I've read somewhere on this board that one can apply a very thin coat and stan it against the wall and it wont sag. Here follows my questions: 1. I assume I can bind on the coated rod and and finish with my preferred epoxy and it would bind to it? Epoxy onto permag

Exactly what I thought also, perhaps it changes with epoxy. Like they say, it's custom rodbuilding, perhaps it's tweaked a little bit. Hopefully someone with more knowhow would shed some light on this topic as I'm also keen on trying my hand at it.

Well done! That's really awesome, I'll surely take some of your pics for guidance on building my drying cabinet. That's what makes this the best rodbuilding forum I've ever visited ever, the fact that people share they ideas and advice.

I read or watch a video somewhere on decal application. One should wrap the sticker/decal around a pencil/old blank pre-application the prep the decal to adhere to a round object.

I was also pondering wiping with denatured alcohol and let it aside for 2 days and wipe again. It can stay fairly active on surfaces depending on climate conditions. Below 30°c it has a lifespan of 24-36hours and above 30°c it can stay active between 18-24hours. So 48hours might be a good incubation period. Happy building and stay safe!

Hi fellow rod builders. Since it's declared a Global Pandemic and you guy's over there in the USA is also now affected somehow, I would just like to know how you go about handling parcels from rodbuilding orders. I guess one can say some sort of cross contamination can occur during the courier handling process? Any extra measures you guys does upon arrival of new packages as it's no longer import

Hi all, so far it's definitely the souffle cups thats contaminated, I took a new cup and pour some thinners in it and one can literally see the oily appearance inside the cup. I'll also do I test on the alu dish but at this stage I think it surely only the souffle cups. Looks like I'll have to clean almost all of the almost 100 cups that's left or chuck it away and revert to what I used before, p

Thanks everyone for your input, it's much appreciated. At this point the bubble isn't much of a concern. @ Roger, Methylated spirits is quite freely available I used it to smoke fish with it, just wanted to make sure Methylated Spirits and Denatured Alcohol is the same thing. Here Methylated Spirits is purple, apparently they added the colouring to prevent people from drinking it, just cautious t

Hi all, I just need confirmation before start using it. I'm currently using a Heatgun for popping bubble and it's working kind of fine for me but the only downside is that it's blowing too much air (even on low and medium settings) resulting in creating airborne dust. I'm in the process of getting myself a alcohol lamp but I can't seems to source denatured alcohol in South Africa, or atleast

Hi all, Just a quick question. I have bought the aluminium foil dishes and souffle mixing cups from above mentioned vendor. Do you guys rinse or wipe them with a solvent prior to use? The reason I'm asking is because either of these items caused quite a oily contamination. Never had a contamination this bad before I've used one or two souffle cups on prior mixes but used the alu dishes for t

Finally Mudhole has updated their Website shipping charges to be more reasonable. Haven't brought something from them myself but it's going to change soon.

If read correctly you'll notice I've never blame Mudhole, I merely stated the fact that I'll have to pay double shipping charges if I wants a replacement product. I also said I still love this product as I'm already considering to get another one. I'm merely notifying them as they are a sponsors on this group and will probably see this message as I'm not planning to call such a huge company to

Hi guy's I finally received my product Tuesday and was very have to start assembling it. It looked pretty much like a straightforward job or atleast that's what I assume it should have been if Packbay didn't skip the quality control on my product. Luckily I'm a little bit handy but what about a new guy that isn't? 1. The holes in the bottom of the side frame doesn't correspond with the hol

Hi guys, I have decided to let my supplier import me one of the above mentioned machines. I've built me one on the same concept but needs another one and are not feeling like building another one so I'm rather buying one. I like the idea of sliding a wheelrest out of a guide's way but I do have one question. How do one level a blank if the machine is already on a set level? I know on sma

Hi, I merely asked for the pros and cons of fishhawk as I've decided to make GBO my priority online shop solely from a affordable point of view. It was never my intention to start a tread to degrade certain vendors! Since it came up here that Mudhole bought up Fishhawk I might as well stay with ProWrap and just stock up with 4oz spools on the colors I uses much. Thanks again for all the in

Hi guy's, I'm all the way from South Africa and are enjoying all the input on this forum, so I thought why not registering. I'm still fairly a rookie on rodbuilding and have been using Prowrap Colorfast for the past 3 years and are very happy with it. I've always sourced my PW CF from a guy that imports wholesale from Mudhole and are very happy with his services so far . I've recently dec
