I'm very interested in this as well, as I think the NRX 872s and 852s rods are the best jigworm/shakeyhead rods out there. I can say that the xray MB733 is lighter powered and slower than those rods and I didn't really enjoy fishing jigs on it. I'm building a point blank 73Mxf, which I am sure is more powerful than the nrx's, but having not fished it yet I can only assume how it will perform.

Yes, I prefer extra fast rods for senko type fishing. And yes, my question was whether the extra fast blanks I referenced had enough power to fish a ~3/8 oz bait and pull bass out of docks or weeds. I've heard what David mentioned about the 610mxf being less powerful than ratings would indicate, so I am trying to make sure the 68mxf is properly rated. I considering the casting 73mlf, but I would

I'd like to build a spinning rod for wacky and texas rigged 5 inch senkos. I will be throwing them under docks and in fairly heavy weeds. Thinking of a 6'8" medium immortal or revalation. The questions is, which one? I think I'd like the extra fast better for casting, but wondering if it is a bit less powerful given lure ratings than the fast. I also though the walleye and bass 68mxf blanks

I built an MB733 and I think it would work well for spybaits. It seems more like a moving bait rod to me, more moderate than I would typically use for small jigs/plastics. Especially with mono or fluoro, I think there would plenty of stretch in the system for small treble hook baits.

Blue Dun NCP is correct. No idea what brand Loomis used, but I used fuji and thought the match was pretty good.

Thanks for all the advice. Looks like I will giving the the CB78/10-20 a try. Appreciate the rainshadow advice as well, I've built several rods on their blanks and agree that they are very high quality. Guess I will give a different brand a try, and if the Bushido doesn't do what I will have to build something else. Oh darn.

I've built an SJ736 and an MB736 with the ECS seat and the texture doesn't bother me at all. Then again I probably wouldn't have considered anything else as the ECS is my favorite casting seat and I haven't built with a different seat yet.

I'm looking for a blank to build a deep crankbait casting rod for bass. Looking to throw baits like a rapala DT14-16, but probably not huge baits like the xd8 or 10. I prefer a graphite blank and would like the blank to be as light in weight as possible while still handling the above baits. Somewhere between 7' and 7'6" I am fine with adjusting length if I need to. The Bushido blanks have ca

I have an NRX 852S and built an xray MB 733. I can tell you the nrx is significantly faster and more powerful than the xray. I know this doesn't give you an answer, but at least helps with which blank is not the answer. It is a bit annoying that the power numbers from North Fork don't mean much even within the same line of blanks.

I really hate to reply, but I feel that truth is important. Lance, where in the @#$%& do you think these sick people filling up the hospitals and morgues are coming from? Why did 400,000 more people die in the US in 2020 vs 2019? I assure you it ain't from suicide, though yes, that may have gone up too. Hospitals get paid an extra 20% for taking care of COVID patients vs a patient with bacterial

Which Bronzeback rod did you have? In my experience most of the Bronzeback spinning rods are more of a moderate fast than something like extra fast. I have a St. Croix SCV 76MLXF and I don't think I would be using it for what you describe. It is truly extra fast, with a very light tip. To me that isn't a live bait rod for big minnows. Works great for small jigs/ned rig though. I've actually had g

I think it depends a lot on what line you will use. With braid, I think a slower action model like the Judge will serve you well with moving baits. If using mono or fluoro, there is already plenty of give in the system and you may prefer a faster rod.

First post, but I have learned a great deal as a lurker over the past year or so. I am looking for a musky blank around 8 feet for lures in the 1-2 ounce range, mostly spinners and small twitch baits. Hoping to find a blank in the 3-4 ounce range to make a lighter, easier handling rod. The SCIV 7'10" swimbait blank looks ideal, unfortunately no more blanks from St. Croix and Rod Geeks doesn'
