I know of a shop that has exactly what you're looking for. I won't post the link here, as they aren't sponsors of the forum, but if you hit me up in Facebook or shoot me an email, I'll send over the info.

Thanks for the response! I tried to talk him into lowering the tip section of the 13' 4-piece rod down to single foot runners. He was vehemently against that approach as he has other rods like that and has constant struggles with line getting tangled up. I like the idea of using a double foot and bending the one foot back to help with strength, and it would also help with looks. I'll sugg

I’m working on repairing a center pin float rod. The original tip was the same size 8 spinning guide that the runners were - like a Fuji YOG style. Customer bent and broke it and didn’t like how it originally looked like a broken rod so he temporarily put a standard slide on tip top on. Now the problem is that the line gets wrapped around the tip and causes problems because of the ring height di

I recently bought some of these. Paint Brushes Set 40 Pcs, Bulk Nylon Flat Hair Small Brush Acrylic Oil Watercolor Paint Artist Painting Kits for Children Cheap enough to be disposable, really fine bristles - on par with the “Takalon” brushes, and finer than the flex coat style disposables.

Several ways to do what you're looking for. 1. Wrap your guide with red and add a silver trim band to the front of it. Easiest way for that is the nail knot technique - it takes some practice, but once you get the hang of it is pretty easy. 2. Take a length of silver and tape it to the blank, start your red wrap over top of it. Once you get the red wrap going toward the guide a little w

Thank you everyone for the suggestions! I was looking at the MW30 system for use with the larger reel, but everything I found showed it as being double foot strippers and transitions. Do they make a single foot version?

Thanks Tom! Do you know if there is anything that needs to be considered as far as stripper guide placement considering it's going to be a bigger reel? Everything I've read says that the standard stripper placement is based on testing with 1500-3000 size reels.

I'm going to be building my first Microwave rod - a 7 ft with a 3500 size reel. As I learn more about it, and how awesome it's supposed to be, I'm wondering if the kits work on longer rods with larger reels? Like a 10ft steelhead rod with a 4000 size reel is what I'm thinking. I figure I'll probably need extra running guides for a rod that size, but I'm more curious about the spacing for the

From the standpoint of CRB quality in general...I've used CRB guides many many times, and have never had a problem with them that wasn't my own fault. From a durability perspective, the Zirconium ceramic should be harder and more durable than any of the aluminum oxide materials - that would include Fuji Alconite, and probably any other guide that doesn't advertise exactly what the material is

I agree that 35 bucks for shipping is really steep....that's why I didn't pay it. As far as the FET goes, NFC is the manufacturer and they're required by law to collect it from the customer. If you shop anywhere else like Mud Hole, Git Bit or Angler's Workshop, you're still paying the FET, it's just that it's baked into the price that they're charging you already, because either they paid it

Even with the FET, that still comes in at 27 bucks...Guess I'll give it a try. Now just to hope that "Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery" on the order confirmation screen is just a conservative CYA message.....

Not quite sure what you mean Pat.... I'm looking at them right now and for me it's saying free shipping. I did just notice too, that while the price on the website said $45 for the 33" UL, when I added it to my cart it said $22.50.

Anyone ever build on one of the NFC ice blanks? Is the Zentron as awesome as they say and worth the money?

Yea, what Roger said. The arbor, be it tape, graphite, wood, or unicorn horn serves one purpose and one purpose only, to keep the blank perfectly centered inside the reel seat. The epoxy is what gives you gives you structural support and strength. Case in point, I most often use drywall tape, which is the opposite of structural strength to arbor my seats.

I will definitely keep that in mind, Dan. Thanks! My thought behind possibly needing to trim from the tip on a noodle blank is that if you have a 36 inch blank with, let’s say, an 6 inches of being “noodle-y” if you turn that into a 28 inch rod, you now have possibly more noodle tip than you wanted. I wouldn’t necessarily expect that I’d do a 4 on each end to reduce it by 8, but could mayb

Thanks for the info! Based on that I’m thinking that the only one I might have to trim any off the tip are the noodle blanks, just to keep proportions somewhat similar to what it started as.

Just ordered some Bass Khang ice blanks to try out. Seeing as they all come as 36 inch blanks, and I want smaller finished rods, I know I'm going to have to trim them up. My questions are, does anyone have experience with any of these blanks and trimming them? Should I be trimming from both the butt and tip to get the length down? How much can be trimmed off the butt end without significant

I have a spare room in the basement that is the size of a bedroom, but not a bedroom because no windows...it’s like 12x12...ish In it I have an 8 foot folding table. On the table I have some plastic drawers, thread racks, desk lamp, and equipment. I wrap with a hand wrapper and move my butt along the lengths of the table as I wrap. I swap out the wrapper with a dryer when I’m finishing, bu
