I have a Fenwick Fiberglass 12’ SH 1441 F 2 piece rod blank, its a old noodle rod blank 4 to 8Lb line. I’m thinking making it into a 4 piece with spigot ferrules. I may lose some length, but that I think will be fine. Looking at maybe a rod that will be between on the short side 10’6” to 11’ long, what line it will cast is a good guess, maybe between a 4wt to an 8wt. Time will only tell. Has anyo

Tom thanks for your response. I have another question about a butt over tip ferrule. If a guide ends up on the ferrule is it ok to have it land on the ferrule or should it be moved? What do think thanks again. Carl

I’m building a rod on a older Lamiglas graphite rod blank, an 8’ 6” 6/7 2 piece rod. It has a graphite butt over tip ferrule, should I do a thread wrap over the whole ferrule? Most of the rods I’ve done are all tip over butt, how common was the use of a butt over tip ferrule?

I’ve been reading all the post here. Thanks for all the information. I’ve been looking at some of the different types of socks and tubes for both Fly rods and spinning rods, and bait casting rods . Thanks again Carl.

I have a Wen 8” bench lathe now for which I would like to get a 3- jaw chuck. I’m still thinking of getting a rod wrapping lathe. I do like the option of having both for doing different work. I would like to thank everyone for their responses. Carl

I’m curious when you are finishing your new rod is their a sequence, do you set and wrap your guides and varnish them before you do any kind of decorative wraps. Or do you do all your thread work on the blank then varnish everything at once?
