Nope, I mixed them yesterday and they're cured and yellow. How long ago did you get your new batch and where'd you order from?

2. G4 Yellowing
I recently used up my first bottles of G4 epoxy I bought last year. I really liked the product but most of all I liked that it didn't yellow nearly as bad as other epoxy. I even built a white rod and it looked great. The problem is that I ordered G4 and G4 low build and right away it it is way more yellow than the tester that I've had sitting in the sun for a year. Has anyone else experienced

I did a white test wrap and let it sit out in the Florida sun for a month and it and perma gloss haven't yellowed at all. I did notice the leftover Gen 4 in my cup is much harder and doesn't have nearly as mush flex as pro kote.

Has anyone used a Rod Geeks fly blank. I'm thinking about doing an 8wt for redfish and a 12wt for tarpon. Looking for feedback.

Thanks all. I'm mainly wondering about yellowing on white thread and blanks. I just did a test wrap. It's super thick so we'll see about the bubble release factor. I'm gonna put it out in the sun for a good long time and see what happens.

I found the NFL Mini Decals worked well but they are not that mini, 1" to 1 1/2". I've done offshore rods for 3 different teams and they worked great. Whatever you go with do a tester first and you should probably use thread sealer.

7. Gen 4 Blue
Has anyone used the Gen 4 epoxy on a white rod? I'm wondering if it has a blue tint to it after its mixed, seems to me that it would. What your favorite finish for non-yellowing?

Does anyone have a blank recommendation for slinging pogies and big mullet. Im looking for a light weight(as in the blank weighing light) 8ft probably 40 or 50lb class. Ive got a new 30oz Daiwa BG 6500 with 50lb 832 braid to put on it.
Thanks
Dan

Thank you Tom. Does anyone have any idea how long I should wait for it to cure, it also has the CRB liquid pigment mixed in? I'm really hoping 36 hours is long enough.

I've tried a few application techniques with permagloss sanding it off and restarting between and it still looks bad. The rod is a retirement gift for my batalion chief at the FD and my deadline is really close. The rod needs to be white. I think I could get a good finish with Prokote as long as it would bond well with the day old Permagloss. Does anyone have any thought or advise?

Bob, I'm using the same carbon fiber, 1k, as the grips just in a smaller diameter.

I am also doing 2 8wt builds, an SCIV/II and a SCV/FRS, would you guys use the same guide setups? What size running snakes/running guides would you use?

I'm about to build a couple of St Croix 8wts, I see there are plugs in the male ends but do I need to put ferrules in the female ends? Thanks!

Has anyone attached carbon fiber directly to the blank? I'm thinking about doing that instead of a decorative wrap. My question is what kind of epoxy to use. Has anyone tried using Prokote or something similar? Thanks, Dan

I too am looking for a less expensive foam but comparable to CFX. I did however find a good place for the CF(I think, I just ordered it so I haven't received it yet). I got 10 feet shipped for $20. The place was sollercomposites.com

Hi All,
I'm fairly new to rod building so all my rods that I built myself are fairly new but all my store bought rods have their finishes coming off one way or another. I stripped one all the way down to the reel seat and down to the raw graphite. What I'm wondering is can I just leave it that way or should I put finish or paint on it? I fish ALOT and in Florida saltwater but it seems to me
