I agree with Micheal. If it’s a casting rod move the first guide. Then it will be like a semi acid wrap rod.

I just finished redoing an 80’s ugly stik. I shortened it from 7’ to 6’6” and relocated the guides. Then I sanded out the spots where the old guides where then put Permanent Gloss urethanedthe on the whole rod. I painted where the old guides were like original. Let it dry then installed the guides. Put a coat of Flex Coat High Build. Everything looked good but I decided to put an aluminum clamp o

The temperature in my shop is 70 degrees. I’ll give a few more days. If it stays tacky I’ll try a lite coat over it. Thanks for the response

Just wondering if anyone could tell me how long Pro flex rod coat takes to fully cure. I was told that Aftcote is now Pro Flex. It’s been 35 hours since I applied to the guides and it is still tacky. I have used flex coat but switched to Pro Flex because of a longer pot life Any response would be much appreciated. I’m new to rod building

I just tried Pro flex rod coat which took the place of Aftcote. It is still real tacky after 24 hours. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it will eventually harden. I usually use Flex Coat but wanted to try the Pro flex because of the longer pot life. I’m new to rod building still trying to figure out finishing with epoxy.
