Started building a walleye jigging rod on an immortal 6’2” MXF. On Rainshadows website the tip is said to be a 4.0 but when I tried to place a recoil 4.0 the tip top has the same O.D. as the rod tip. I tried 2 tip tips and both wouldn’t fit on the blank. When I measured the tip top it measured 1.654 mm.
I guess my question here is should contact Rainshadow about the tip not being 4.0 or is t

thanks again so basically they do the same job in the end. it’s just weather you need it to stay where you put it or if you need it to fill some spaces.

Just looking for a quick clarification... what is the difference between Proglu and Propaste and what are their different uses?

Not really a client, it’s a really good buddy of mine. we but ordered an immortal 6’2” MXF and I’m going to build mine with the Fuji titianium sic and his will be guides without the inserts. Not too concerned about noise. Really just trying to do some research to see if the inserts are beneficial when it comes to light weight fishing, because I have kinda gathered from this site that 10# braid o

Alright he is still fighting for the recoils... we are both wondering if anyone has used different guides on the same build? He’s wondering if we could do minima reduction guides and recoils on the tip.
We’re not worried about cosmetics as long as the rod preforms well.

Thanks everyone,
This site is never lacking knowledge that I really appreciate.
Sounds like he is more set on the KR than the recoils, so it sounds like the minimas are going to be his selection. I’m building the same setup as him for myself with the Fuji titianum torzite guides so we’ll see if the extra $$ really does make a better rod.

Building a rod for a buddy and he is set on Recoil guides but has also been doing his research on rod building and wants me to use the KR Concept. Just getting expert advice in making sure that the KR Concept will still work without using the Fuji K-series guides.

Thanks Everyone for the input.
I really appreciate all the advice, I guess I have come to realize that when building a custom rod there are no perfect answers just well informed opinions. The reason I was gonna go with the recoils is because that is what I see on most high end rods.
For everyone that has been a part of this I will let you know how it turns out, but I got an amazing wife th

I will be using a shimano stratic 1000 with 8# Suffix 832, and most of the time I would say we are pitching 1/4 oz jigs. I'm thinking I will do 8 guides starting with a size 16, 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 6, 6.
Like I said I am fairly new to this so if anyone sees something wrong with this please let me know.

Thanks.
So I guess my next question is are there any guides out there lighter than the Recoil guides that will still hold up to braided line?

I am very new to rod building and can't quite get an answer for making the most sensitive rod possible. I have a 6"3" St. Croix SCV Medium X Fast blank that I will be building this rod with and this biggest question I have when it comes to building this rod is the guides. I am pretty sure I will be using Recoil guides but not sure how many. Everything chart I have found suggests between
