Hey fellas, anyone have any ideas how to convert the CFX 5" rear spey grip for an uplocking seat? From the looks of it, the grip is relieved for downlocking seat (at least from the review from Mudhole site customer review). Maybe fill the void with an arbor then turn down? Thanks!

Hey fellas, has anyone used the Seaguide casting guide sets from ARW? Wondering about the 7-6-5.5 reduction as I have been using 10-8-4 for the vast majority of freshwater builds. Makes sense to choke it down fast but wonder with a shorter height would require closer positioning to the reel to keep the line off the blank and more belly guides for the same reason? Figured on testing the w

Hey fellas, just a popularity question to satisfy my own curiousity: For those that build steelhead drift rods (float/bobber/bobber dogging etc), do you build more spinning or casting rods? Best Fon

Thanks fellas! @ Don, which stripper guide would you recommend for 9.5' and 10.5' steelhead blanks using braid mainline and 4000 sized Shimano reel. That would help me a lot to talk with my client. Thanks Fon

Hey fellas, I have a client that asked me to wrap a spinning steelhead rod for him using the Microwave guides. I haven't used a Microwave ringset on a build before but have a pretty good idea after reading all the threads here. Which brings me to my question: Why are there 3 different "sized" 20/6 stripper guides? Microwave spinning, Microwave AIR, MW20. Sized I mean, each h

For the sake of discussion, I had emailed PB regarding the Minima M and received a reply from Karen Galvan. The Minima is sill a valid product in the line up with no plans to discontinue. That said, she did not provide any insite on availability other than retailers place volume orders and the orders are fulfilled. Carol @ Utmost indicated they are not taking orders from PB but did not e

Hey fellas, I have dove into the archives regarding Lamiglas warranty but no current reports/questions/first hand accounts. The past accounts have not been favorable but I can't base past reports with anything current. Has anyone had any dealings with the Lami warranty within the last year? Good/bad/indifferent? Been contemplating a GP1202MH for a surf perch build. Thanks! -Fon

Thanks fellas for the replies. I was looking at the blueprints on the Batson site for the BP1266 to get some ideas too. Grant makes a good point on the use of weight, from what I gather and talking with a few guides; up 20oz is possible pending tidal and wind movements. Hard for me to envision a single foot guide being pulled out and off the blank while on the troll with heavy lead and I

Hiya folks, any reason(s) not to run single foot running guides on a 10'6 downrigger rod for Bouy 10 salmon (RS BP1266). Gonna give a spiral wrap a shot for giggles. Also for conventional reels, would you run a seat with or without a trigger? Thanks!

Thx Brian! Can you comment on ring insert durability? For me light SW, is fishing for perch and stripers on the beach. So the M with ceramic inserts would be my choice. Thoughts?

Interesting read, I am in the process of building a 10' surf with Shimano Stradic 5K and have been going back and forth between single/double foot and 30 or 25 size Fuji.

Gentlemen, what would be the maximum mono/braided line weight and lure weight you would consider building a steelhead/salmon/light surf spinning rod using PacBay Model M with ceramic insert, Model M Minima, Model FX with ceramic insert and Model F Minima? I have Rainshadow RX7 9' blank that I am going to build up using 30-40lb braided mainline and 1.5oz lure weight. Thx Fon

Gentlemen, has anyone being using the Pac Bay titanium high frame guides with the zirconia ring? If so, overall impression with regards to ring durability since the rings arent depressed; ring smoothness; frame foot stamping, guide quality etc? I have a few new clients wanting other titanium high frame option with ceramic ring. Thx Fon
