Played around with the guide setup. Used the X27 system. Placed the choker guide 55" from the reel spool. 26" to tip top from choker 4 3/8 " spacing to tip. Additional 5 guides to the Tip Top 6 guides total. Choker Guides and running guides CRB LZR #8 ring, Tip Top CRB LZR Med Duty #8 ring. Stripper Guide, Reduction Guides all VS3 Titanium single foot guides 30-20-16--10, Total

Been rethinking this setup.... maybe going with a modified concept layout using 25 16 12 8 VS 3 Guides and either 5 or 6 ( 5.5 or 6 mm ) running guides. Probably work well with either Braid or Mono ??????? Thanks Rick

Re-wrapping a St. Croix Ben Doerr 8 1/2 " Surf Rod rated for 6-14 # Test Line up to 1 1/4 oz lures. The rod is at least 20 years old and had 5 clunky double foot guides on it.
