Here is my take. What I've seen and learned is, what works for one person doesn't mean it will work for another person. I have made the reamers using silicon carbide on cut blanks and still do. Yes, they get hot while power reaming as do all reamers. I only ream for 10 to 15 seconds at a time. When I make the reamers, I use the same paste adhesive as I use for gluing the grips and reel seats to

I only use U40 Perma Gloss when I coat/recoat a bare unpainted blank. If you chose this route, make sure your in a well ventilated area.

I had the same issue a couple of weeks ago looking at costs to ship a similar length tube from Tampa Fl. to Huston TX. The customer declined to follow through with the order. Which I would have done also.

I use FC lite all the time. After I apply CP I let it set for about 24 hours before I apply FC. Haven't had an issue yet.

Anyone visiting the Fred Hall show that is in the rod building world owes it to yourself to check out what Gabriel at Hitena has to offer. Their wrapping thread is awesome, with a huge variety of colors, styles and patterns to chose from.

Travis - If you want marbling around the guide area, it is much easier to do this before putting the guides on. As far as marbling around the handle and reel seat, it is up to you. I have done it both ways and either way works. If your going to marble before gluing the handles and reel seat, dry fit everything and make marks on the blank where you need to add the marbling.

First time post, long time follower. I too would like to give thanks to Tom for what you have done in the rod building community. I have learned far more than I would have imagined when I started building rods, mostly due to this forum, your book and magazine. Due to this passion I've acquired for rod building I've made this into a business. I have my plans set to be at the Expo and my hope is, a
