Hi Spencer, no I haven’t called him. Im in the UK, is he still operating? Couldn’t access the website when I last tried and don’t hear much about us blanks anymore. Thought he may have stopped business. I’ll try and find him on Facebook and drop him a message. Thanks

Probably more chance of winning the lottery but anyone got a tip section for a Dan Craft SigV 3pce 9' 5wt lying around in the corner of their workshop? Tip section of my rod had a nasty accident with a boat prop on the weekend :( Cheers Daniel

How do the Minima4 fly guides compare to the average single foot snake guide (not recoil)? Also Recoils aside, is there a big difference in quality between single foot snake manufacturers? PacBay, H&H, Alps, American Tackle etc. Particularly the Tich. Regards Daniel

I've broken the tip section on my 9ft 8wt FT. Probably a long shot but would anyone have a damaged blank/spare tip section they'd be willing to part with? Ive contacted Dan and these blanks are not made anymore. I'd need to send my broken rod to the US from the UK to have an aftermarket tip section made. I'm not sure its gonna justify the postage cost both ways plus the cost of the section. Ma

I've found 2 different recoat times online for Threadmaster Lite, is one of these no longer valid. For a previous formulation for instance? ThreadMaster Lite Technical Info. Recoat Time @ 77 Degrees F: 8 hours min./48 hours max w/o surface prep TM Lite: ReCoat Time: Within 36 Hours (All measurements taken at 70 degrees Fahrenheit) I want to 2nd coat my build, its currently been abo

Thanks for the reply both, I’m in the UK so I try and avoid expensive phone calls if possible! I emailed Decal Connection and they’ve replied with instructions. I’ll copy them below in case anyone else finds them useful. ‘We recommend you put a coat of epoxy first on the blank where you are placing the decal. This ensures a clean smooth surface for the decal. Place the decal in room temper

Does anyone have the instructions/technique for the waterslides Decal Connections used to do. I know they no longer make them but I have a sheet of decals from years ago but I cant find the instructions. (embarrassingly shows when I last built a rod!) I can vaguely remember a coat of epoxy, wetting the blank but its a bit fuzzy after this. Soak the decal too ??? Cheers Dan

Hi could anyone give me some guidance on doing a tri colour trim band on a ferrule? I’m trying to replicate what I see on my Sage rods but I just can’t get it. Seems to me starting from the ferrule end they have aabout 5 wraps of standard thread, 5 wraps of metallic, 5 black, 5 metallic then back to the standard wrap color for the wrapping of the guide foot. My guide is on a ferrule if that helps

Thank you very much for all your advice. Plenty to think about, particularly with regard to the recoil feet and solder. Thanks again, I'll keep you informed of how I get on.

Hi all, do you think the following would work ok? 9' 4wt Pac Bay Quickine Batson RA701 Shiny Gunsmoke reel seat and winding check to match Grip made using 1/4" cork rings from Indarfly.it Would like to use Recoil single foots to keep the weight down but not sure on sizes. Pac Bay lists 12, 10, 4, 3, 3, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2 for this blank. Apart from the two strippers do these sizes conve

Noticed some custom builders use 1/4” thick cork rings for their fly grips. What’s the reason for this? Does it create a higher quality grip? Cheers Dan

Thank you for all the suggestions. I'm leaning strongly towards the QL. Cant find many comments that put me off it and the price is a huge plus. Also there's options for me to buy from some Euro shops, which should also save some shipping/import duties. Cheers Dan

Looking for a 9' 4wt blank. Budget is about the cost of a MHX 4pc, maybe. little more if required. Ideally I would like fast recovery, low swing weight, a stable light tip that hasn't got a mind of its own when the rod is stopped, with some decent power in the butt section. Finished rod will be used for light Stillwater, and general river duties for trout and grayling here in the UK. Dries, nymp

Thanks Spencer, just checked the database out. You are correct with your comment. Looks like the ERN and AA remain pretty much the same when dropping one section on the FTL. Think I'm gonna build it as a 7'6" and buy myself a new 9' 4wt blank. Any thoughts on the Pac Bay Quickline? I like the look of the CCS numbers and blank weight but have zero experience with pac bay blanks. I'd like s

H, thinking of dropping the butt section on my Dan Craft FTL 904/6 and was wondering if anyone here as tried this and their thoughts on the finished rod. I always thought the 9' 4wt FTL was better with a 3wt line in my opinion. What effect does losing a section have on this? Would it still be a 3/4wt? Blank feels crisper in my hands without the butt section but obviously it doesn't even have any
