I fish specifically for LM bass. I know I'm in the minority in this but I despise FC line. Especially on spinning equipment. I DO NOT see why it is so popular. Especially with the price companies want for it. But, those that like it have justified it and that's fine. I am a braid man and I love it. I agree with an earlier post that says backlashes are a little easier to remove using braid.

The purpose of the taller guide on spinning rods is to compensate for the offset of the reel. Casting reels are basically flush mounted once the foot is inserted into the reel seat. The spinning reel is offset by approximately 2.75".

Thanks for all the replies. I currently am using U-40 quick bond as my adhesive. I may be applying too much epoxy, but on the past I have had one Winn Grip (9” long) come loose in the back part of the grip. Not sure why, I assume I either missed a spot or not enough was used.

Thanks guys for the advice. Know that it will be heeded. May I ask, what is your preferred epoxy (name brand) to use?

Put first coat of ProKote epoxy on casting rod. Using dryer at 9rpm. Applied while turning on dryer. Mix ratio was good. Applied with disposable brush. Never could get it to become uniformly flat, looked lumpy going on, hoped it would even out, but never did. Dried for over 12hrs. Did I put it on too thick? Mix was room temperature when mixed. Is there a secret to get a nice even flat co

Before I get fussed at I did do a search for this topic and did not find anything.
This is my first post on this site. I’ve been reading for a while. I have always wanted to build my rods. Casting, spinning and fly. I am 55 yrs old and have never done one before until this past weekend. I purchased two rod blanks. One each for spinning and casting. I also purchased two handle kits becau
