Thanks for responding. The missing tip section is 36-1/2" and the ferrule inside dimension is 7/32". If you have one let me know the cost.

Thanks for the info. One more question re split bamboo rods. Same friend asked me to repair a different rod. Unfortunately it is missing the tip section of the 3 pce rod. He refinished the rod himself and in the process remove all of the labels and decals. Any ideas on where to look fo a replacement tip. I do have pics of the ferrules. Not much to go on. Help please!!!

I have restored 3 split bamboo fly rods that belonged to my father. Fun but sometimes tedious. A friend has asked me to restore a similar bamboo rod. As I am new at restoring these rods, I have no idea what to charge. I did not need any new components. So all of my work involved stripping the varnish and wraps, cleaning up the handle and other parts, reinstalling the guides and new finish coats.

The three rods I have are a Heddon #10 - 8-1/2', Shakespear A1362 - 8-1/2' and Southbend #50 - 9'. I don't think any of these qualify as "very valuable". Not sure though.

I have been building custom spinning and bait casting rods for about 20 years. I inherited 3 spilt bamboo fly rods a number of years ago and would like to restore them. I have no experience working with bamboo or restoring a bamboo fly rod. It appears from my research that there are many methods that can be used to complete a project like this. Looking for suggestions regarding restoring the fini
