That’s a great combination. I really like that set up with the G2 carbon fiber grips.

Although I’m not a carp fisherman down here in South Georgia, this is a great video...informative but really fun to watch!

It’s pretty cool how cork can take on unexpected characteristics from either its natural growth environment or when cork sealant is added. Does anyone know of any disadvantages to using a cork sealant?
By the way, have I ever mentioned how much I love the American Tackle fly rod grips and reel seats with matching wood trim?! It’s cool to be able to match the trim to the design scheme. Check o

Chris, I really like your suggestion! Put them head to head. I expect that the Microwaves will outperform the Fujis. And, you can’t beat the aesthetics of the MWs.

I love the multipiece Bushidos! That's what I use for my travel rods.

I've used Bushido blanks quite a bit. Along with Matrix, they are some of my go-to blanks. As previously stated, they are tough and sensitive, but also light, and reasonably priced. Match it with some ATC TiForged guides and you've got a great set up.

10. Re: Winn Grips
I used one on a rod that I built for my wife. The grip looks great on the rod and she and I both love to fish it. For some reason, I always like fishing with her rods! She has some arthritis in her hand and it feels more comfortable to her.

I thought that I'd give an update to my post. I did not wipe the tacky finish with acetone, nor did I strip it. Instead, I carefully mixed a new batch and applied it over the tacky coat. It cured perfectly, so hopefully it will hold up. Thanks again for all of the input!

I think that I will give the acetone trick a try. It's a personal rod, so once again a learning opportunity!

Thanks Tom. I mix 3 to 3 but I think that I shorted Part A on the last mix. The first one and all other coats on other rods were fine.

14. ProKote Tacky
My second application of ProKote didn't quite cure properly. It is just a bit tacky after a week of cure time. I suspect that I got the proportion off. What is the solution? I'm wondering if a third coat will seal off the tacky on or will this multiply the error.
I appreciate any advice!

I see what you mean! Tough on the eyes but, I'm in no rush so I think I'll stick with it.

Hey experts! Is Kimono silk thread (#355) sufficient for guides on a 4 wt two-piece fly rod? It's a thinner thread than I expected. Thanks in advance!

This is a 7' spinning rod with 10 guides and about a 6 inch butt design. To be on the safe side, I guess I will do a 4:4 mix to make sure I have enough. I live in South Georgia and the weather looks great tomorrow so it should be a good day for my inaugural coat! Thanks for the advice guys!

Hey all.
I am about to do my first thread coat on my first rod. I have ProKote that is preloaded in two 12 ml syringes. I know that I need to use equal amounts of each and that I need to ensure that I mix enough for all wraps. I'm not sure how much to mix. Advice?
