Bill great point and it is 10-20 degrees where i live right now so my heat stays on anyways and im about to run myself out of the house anyways since i have started building again. I have a spare room i use for my drying room and is closed off so it stays warm in there. But again thank you for comment.

Those tension rods arent made very well but like Michael said if you by pass that and tighten down your spool a tad bit more it should give you enough tension to be able to wrap a nice tight wrap. Hope this helps as i have one for back up in case my auto one goes down but i will use this same idea if it comes time.

well i mixed the finish but apparently not enough as a few of the guides are tacky to the touch and the others are dry for sure. I just didnt know if there was anything i could use to rough it up and reapply new finish to the ones that are wet.

I have let the finish dry on a rod i made for a few days and its still tacky feeling is there any sand paper or anything i can use to rub on it and reapply more finish? I figured out my problem after and all the other rods i have made have turned out looking great and drying no problem but there is this 1 that is a pain and wont dry correct. It seems to maybe be the thread I am using because nothing is working every pen I have tried runs. I am using pro wrap color fast thread has anyone had the same issue with this? I am at a total loss with any and all test. I may just not put name plates on the rods which i hate because it makes it more personalized BUT nothing is stinking working.

yes thanks to everyone that put their 2 cents in I will sure try some different ones but I do know DO NOT USE a sharpie with prokote finish.

What is the best procedure for making a custom name plate on a rod. Back in the early 80's my family used sharpie pens and after 1 coat of preserver they wrote the name of the person who bought the rod and then a coat of finish over that.
