Absolutely: I was throwing a weedless hooked soft plastic without weight on light rod to get better distance. Well when it came time to set hook, way too much rod bend and no hook penetration. Switch rod power lost some distance gained hook ups. There is always a trade off I've found.

Aaron, I found when I used those reel seats (purpose was to feel more vibrations when trolling Buck's spoonplug), I just purchased more molded product. The distance from seat to blank was not reduced. Please tell me how you see this. I was very disappointed, thinking I had solved a riddle. Thank you.

UPDATE: David was kind enough to bring entire rod over yesterday. It's a Shakespeare 8ft. casting rod with very old recessed reel seat. Rod is limber enough for a fly, not sure about reel seat adapting to fly reel. Kent is trying yo walk me through the posting of pictures, I'm IT challenged!!! Now hear this, I just received two CTS rods from Herb. I like to support all sponsors. Can't say

So my neighbors brother is in town and he brings a broken fly rod over. 4 piece that had lost the tip, walking over he's twitching the section and it breaks. Well as I'm looking I say this must be where it fits into ferrule. He says no that's the tip, so why is there metal on it, I say, turns out the entire rod is metal, no threads anywhere. The guides must be epoxied on. any body know what

My fault. I don't think clearly when I get frustrated. I meant 2cc not 2 oz. Peoples shares have said don't mix less then that. Tom is saying 3 cc. His experience must be given proper consideration. I'm most interested with the idea of putting left overs in freezer. Which leads me to this question, how do you thaw it and know the temp of it. Thanks again everyone.

I have one guide to apply Thread epoxy. There is a difference between cheap and poor! What methods, other than mixing 2 oz. do y'all use. I'm not equipped to dry multiple rods. Thanking all in advanced

Unbelievable how many posts on same subject. Kent is a friend of mine. We fish, eat, and share ideas together. He doesn't pay me, and he receives no compensation from this wrap. I'm saying it's the best version, period. For those whom haven't tried it, please keep an open mind and give it a go. The proof is in fighting the fish and until one experiences this there is little to talk about. I'

Great question, being a relative newbie, I have tried 4 methods outlined in this forum. All of them worked. The KG method is what I use today and am very pleased with it. Forhan locking wraps, I say why not!! Everything to gain, nothing to loose. Kent shared with me to keep the rotation of guides going the same side as reel handle, with that being said, I put a left handed reel on right side

This is what i LOVE about this site, people can share their experience in a polite manner even tough it may differ from others. This give newbies a chance to try other methods unknow to them and form their own decisions. Thanks to all who share here!!

Thank you for the topic. Tom, you have some very sound theories on the matter, thank you. I've been toying with both sides, mainly due to my enjoyment from doing wraps and weaving. I finally came to this conclusion and would like some feed back please. During my time with golf shop, a client was dissatisfied with the bounce on his wedge and asked if I could grind it. Yes, but we could also pur

Being a bass fisherman, I can't recommend guide types, other then I like American Tackle. But spiral wraps, I get excited. Please do yourself a favor and look up Kent's shares about the Cagey wrap. Other methods work but IMHO his is the best. Good Luck. P.S> I do eat Grouper, haha.

You tube has multiple examples of proper layout. Acquiring the rods diameter and taking into account the taper. I'm still learning but it was great information to get me started in the proper direction. Good luck and hopefully you'll see improvement each time.

I started with American Tackle and Micro Wave due to the selflessness of Don Morse and staff. After 2 years of reading this forum every day, I've gained respect for several participants. This gave me the courage to try other guides and methods. All of them worked. But, at days end American Tackle still has the best. Thank you too all who share here.

Please, y'all do your selves a favor and try one. Please don't let me brag on how many bass I've caught here in Florida, I was awed that the feel from retrieve to hook set could be so smooth. So, let the results speak for themselves. Herbert Spensor,"contempt prior to investigation."
