I have purchased 2 rods and components from them and I was happy with the service and the quality of the blanks. Very fast delivery was a huge plus.

Good morning All
I have a Pac Bay power wrapper and noticed that when I have a rod tip on the roller stand the blank actually makes contact with the metal part that the rollers are mounted on. Does anyone know if there is a larger roller to help keep the blank of the stand or is everyone just notching the metal between the rollers?
Thanks everyone in Advance.

Hi John
I am going to take your advice and save theMMIX for another build. I have ordered an 11' IM-8 in 7 weight for this build not a real high dollar blank but I have been told it is a descent one. Do you happen to have an email address so I could contact you in the future as you seem to have a vast knowledge of this type of rod and what line to use.
Thank you in advance

Thank You for the input to all,
John first off how is the fishing?
What length rods are you using and what would the weight difference be to a full spey rod IE: 8wt switch = ?wt spey? The reason I ask is I got a great deal on a 13' 6" MHX 8 wt spey rod and was wondering if I need to cut it down some, it seems awful stiff in the butt section.

Thanks in advance guys!!!

Happy Thanksgivin to you all and also for the advice.
Herb
I would be using the rod to throw a full sinking shooting head at Pyramid lake in Nevada i am used to using a single hand 9' 8 weight as you mentioned very well but have injured my shoulder and thought a switch rod may make it less painful to cast. I think after reading your response i should really rethink the build. I was told the s

12. Switch Rod
Good afternoon all,
I thought I would seek out some advice from the experts on a build I want to do.
I am looking at getting an 11' 8 weight fast action switch rod and have heard that I would be better to use larger striping guides and snake guides for the rest. I was wondering what the general thoughts are from the experts and also what sizes would you all recommend.
Thank you all in ad

14. Re: Marbeling
Good morning Mark
I took your advice and added a second coat and flamed it other then a couple of stick ups from the thread inlays it came out smooth. I will shave the stick ups and apply another coat. This is on a lamiglas 8'6" flyrod and I applied a base o black epoxy with 3 different metallic blues as the marbling. Looks beautiful.
Thank you again for the advice.

18. Marbeling
Good Day Guys,
I am doing some marbling on a rod and am having a hard time with getting the marble area smooth. When the epoxy has dried it is lumpy from the different colors being added in different spots. The actual marble effect looks great but I was just wondering if I was to give it more coats of epoxy and then sand them will I get a smooth finish or will it mess up the marbling.
Thank

I am going to try a tiger wrap for the first time. I am not clear on the placement of the thread that will be removed. Was hoping for a gold and black combination. Can anyone give me some of the expert advice from this forum?
Thank you all for this great site and advice.

Hey Darrel,
What about an aluminum fore grip I would guess a machine shop could manufacture a nice tapered piece that had flat areas for the hook to grip. This could be exposed on the same as a cork grip and made thick enough to hold up to the pressure of the hook.

Another thought came mind if you attached the guide just in front of fore grip a Velcro strap could go around the grip and his prosthetic arm.

Jeff Mayfield
I would guess there would be a SW guide that could be strong enough or one could be manufactured.

Just a thought why not use an over size guide that he may be able to put the hook into. Don't know if it would work but it may.

Good morning all,
I want to do a feather inlay and was curious if I can use a water based CP or if it needs to be acrylic based.

Just wondering if when you guys say you don't like to sand the finish are you doing it dry or wet? I have done automotive painting for more years than I will admit and this is the preferred solution. I have had some issues withthe epoxy in my rod wraps and fixed the issue using fine paper but doing it wet.
