Look at the Rainshadow RX6 SP843. I have built several for inshore use here in Texas with no issues. I think Get Bit has sale on them now.

Roger I am very interested in being able to control the motor speed to be able to run at a slow constant speed for finishing and drying. I just replaced the foot pedal with a Lucas Lowboy and it offers very smooth speed control if I could slow the motor speed range both foot and constant speed control would be the best of all worlds

I purchased a Lucas Lowboy foot pedal for my Renzetti Rod Lathe to replace the one provided with the lathe. My first impressions are it make lathe very smooth and controllable, much better than original pedal supplied with the lathe. I will comment further with more use. Richard Lucas was very helpful and delivery was prompt.

The blanks I am using are mod fast and I am thinking a fast or xfast might be better for working the lighter plastics, so I am for others opinions.

I have been making and fishing primarily casting rods. Now I want to make a spinning rod for inshore plastic fishing. Looking for recommendation for a blank. The rod will be used for casting plastic paddle tails and jerk baits inshore in TX.

Does anyone know if there is a DC motor that will fit on a Renzetti wrapping lathe. I would like to be able to change the direction of rotation when I am building a rod.

What are most of you using as a cutoff tool to shorten a blank? I tryed a dremel with a thin cutting disk but didn’t get a smooth concentric cutoff.

I have found that an Easy Wood Mini Easy Rougher with a Ci2-R2 carbide cutter at around 1000 to 1300 RPM with a (light touch!!) works well to get concentric and a Ci2-SQ cutter to form tenions to fit in the reel seats. The key is light touch!!

What is the best procedure when putting an underwrap on a off shore rod? Should the under wrap be epoxies before wrapping the guides or should it all be finished with the epoxy at the same time? I am double wrapping then guides as well. Is double wrapping the guides necessary? this is my first offshore rod so I am kind of flying blind.

Thank you all for your feedback. After spending 40 years in the oil business and taking up rod building for a hobby it is refreshing to be involved in something where the experts freely share their knowledge!

Will an American Tackle Thread Carrier work on an ALPS Power Wrapper. If not does anyone have a recommendation for a multi thread carriage for an ALPS to make Tiger Wraps more manageable?
