Sorry that I didn't get back to this for awhile. Thanks all for the replies. I found finger nail decals for the Atlanta Falcons. I understand that using CP over the decal and before the epoxy is the way to go. Thanks again for the replies. Scott

As mentioned above, I have a customer who wants me to build a rod for her husband for fathers day. He's an Atlanta Falcons fan. I have seen sports decals somewhere but for the life of me can't find them. i've tried all the usual suspects, Mud hole, Get bit, Decal connection and even a new site called Custom Rod Components (CRC). If someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly app

I belong to the CRBG on Face Book but wasn't aware of any "real" certification testing. I was an ASE Certified Technician that went through many re-certifications in my 32 years of Automotive repair. How would they go about "certifying" someone? Would it be through media? Pictures and such of the process and the final product? I'm just thinking out loud here. I'm going to ask

I appreciate all the comments regarding the blank. From what I learned you can either keep them or sand them off. I was more interested in the wrapping over a course blank but it seems my fears were for naught. I've already assembled the seat and grips and glued them up last night. As I said earlier , and agreeing with another poster, I kind of like the rough finish. Its different. Before I start

Looking at it again, its seems rougher if you run your thumb from the butt to the tip but smoother from tip to butt. and its real noticeable at the tip. It wasn't a prime blank it was in a priced right kit. Maybe I'll order another one and see. I could always use another rod or 6. Dace.

Hi Guys, Got a question. I just received a new rod blank 7'1" It has a very rough finish, like its still wrapped with material that has not been finished. An overlapping spiral up the blank. I'm just starting out and have never seen this before. Its very weird. I can only imagine if I try to wrap guides I won't be able to pack the threads, its that noticeable. Thanks for the input guys D

I'm looking for reel seat components, just the hoods and the locks to make my own reel seats. I've got some exotic woods and acrylic blanks to machine on my lathe but can't fine the components. TIA

Kyle from Support contacted me and the issue is resolved (hopefully). My post was born out of frustration as I had tried every avenue available to me. I wasn't aware of what was happening on his end and he wasn't aware of the other emails I had sent. I trust that he is on it and I will get what I ordered. I'm going to keep ordering from Getbit as I'm sure this sticky part is behind us. I do appre

Damn Guys, My mind is blown. All this time I'm thinking that you have to spine the rod up or down depending on the type (spinning or Casting), for strength in relation to the guides. Never though about the natural bend of the rod being a factor. All these beginner videos I've watched from Mudhole and various other builders have always stressed the importance of finding the spine. Thanks for

I did a search for Spiral Wrap and Acid Wrap but none came up, so if there is a thread (pun) on it already, please point me in the right direction. Otherwise... I understand the concept and theory behind the spiral wrap but I haven't found any information on setting it up. I'm looking for a straight answer on: Which spline to use, Casting or spinning? Number of guides? Degrees of rotation?.

24. valspar
I did a search for any info on Valspar and if it reacts badly to flex coat, nothing came up. So I'll throw this out there. I'm refurbing an old rod I had for many years. Its all stripped down and sanded. I wanted to put the shine back on it and had read that Urethane Valspar will work. Has anyone had any issues with coating the whole blank and using flex coat on the threads? Or would it be better

I was looking at spar urethane/varnish to finish an old blank i stripped down for refurb. I was only going to use it on the blank and use prokote on the wraps. Would there be a problem with incompatibility? I don't know what the prokote is made of and whether or not it would lift off the blank. Thanks Dace

Hello all, First time posting but have been reading for awhile. I've built a couple rods in the past, fresh water spin casting rods but now I want to do a surf rod. I mean a SURF ROD! 14' single piece or 2 piece if I have to. Problem is I can't find a 14' blank. I live in Massachusetts South Coast area. I've tried googling, I've tried @#$%&, I've tried Mudhole. Does anyone know where I could g
