Thank you for all the comments! Very helpful. I"m in the process of possibly buying the TR 74. Have contacted customer service on just how lengthy the tip section. Might experiment with ice rod blanks. That's a very helpful pointer--that these blanks are solid and can be sanded.

Thanks. I was looking at Mudhole earlier today and didn't see this. A 2.5. I don't like the green section. Does anyone know if there's a paint I could apply that would stay on? Also, does anyone know if any tips smaller than 2.5 exist? Back at the turn of the millennium, there was a microlight on the market paired with a Tiny 20 reel I bought. Solid glass, and the tip is probably lighter than 2.5

I've done some online search, but so far I've found only ultra-light blanks down to 3.5/64 tip size. I need to build a three-and-a-half foot trout microlight, and although the blank can be cut, ideally I need a tip size of 2/64 or 2.5/64. Does anyone know if any this light are available anywhere? It doesn't have to be a spinning blank. I read somewhere of 1-weight fly rods. I could cut one of tho

Otherwise, my willow switch is good enough for me, but I'm writing a book on the salmon egg method. I devote a chapter to building the rod, so I need to carefully uncover what the market offers for components. I want to

That's helpful already, Roger & Herb. I've built an ultra-light trout rod for my son, for salmon egg use. I find it a little too stiff. Made it about 15 years ago when I didn't have much internet use, so my buying power was more of a shot in the dark. I know such a rod can be super, super light, slow action all the way down the blank compensating for a tip that might just break off, if fast a

Trying to figure out what's the lightest tip slow action blank to buy. Not clued in as yet to any specs that might help, either. Since fiberglass is flimsier than graphite, interested in any info on this, too. Thanks.
