I'm almost certainly overthinking this, but here it goes. There are four variables here that I think are important, and I'm trying to figure out how they fit together: The reel and the first three guides in the guide train. Let's imagine for a second that all low profile baitcasters are the same, just for the sake of argument. I would also like to imagine that the guides after the choke poin

I'm sad to report that I broke my favorite rod, my Rainshadow Immortal IMMS68ML-TC. I was going to order the same blank, but I'm always into experimenting so I wanted to see what you guys have tried out. Looking for something in the less than 7' range. I throw mostly 1/16 to 1/4 oz jig heads with Down South Lures. This is for specs, reds, and the occasional flounder if I'm lucky. What have y

I often see the advice of 19" to 21" from the reel face for the first guide on a casting rod. I generally just stick mine at 20" and call it good, but I have been wondering lately if there is some sort of a test to see if it would be better to move it closer or further away.

Looking at building a 9' 5 weight as my next project. Searched as much as I could, but didn't come up with anything definitive. Wondering if this guide train would work, or if there are suggestions for a better guide train. Pac Bay Minima Model T Titanium Hard Chrome TT3XG-12, TT3XG-08, followed by 10 Pac Bay Minima Model F Titanium TF3XG-04-W, and an Arowana Titanium SiC tip top.

You need the resale tax certificate to legally not have to pay tax on components. I don't know what it's called in NY; here it's called a Texas Sales and Use Tax Permit. You don't have to pay taxes on components because you're going to have to charge and pay local and state taxes on the finished rods you sell. You're also going to need and Employer Identification Number from the IRS to start a

I do not offer a warranty for the rods I build. If a blank were going to fail, it's very likely that it would fail when I do a static load test. The only blank failure I've experienced happened with very little pressure trying to find the spine. I've had potential customers ask, and I explain this to them. So far they've all accepted that answer and been fine with it. I offer repairs at what

I get a solid edge with the brush, but obviously that skips over the tunnels. Once I have the nice edge around the rest of the blank, I stop turning and put the guides at a 90 degree angle to the floor. I take a toothpick with some epoxy on it and drag from where the edge stopped to the tunnel. I then fill the tunnel with epoxy. Rotate the rod 180 degrees and do it again. Push the thread a l

Most of the dealers sell them below MSRP so the price isn't what you're going to pay. Also, for those that get wholesale pricing, the prices would be even more inaccurate. We also aren't allowed t
