I guess I'm thinking of the cone spools, which I dont think are well suited but I think you mean the 1100 ones that are capped on both ends and the thread wont "jump off" the side and wrap around the tensioner rod. In that case sure...

The thing is that Madeira spools are meant to be stood upright and have the thread lifted up from the top to feed an embroidery machine, not laid down and have the thread pulled off under tension like a fishing reel. Unless the Renzetti is special (and for the price it might very well be) its better to transfer the amount your going to use to an empty spool and mount that on the tensioner. That

Billy, its a saltwater application but I usually keep EVA joints away from where I will be grabbing the grip. Its more like trim pieces just behind the winding check. I'm trying for like a flame color transition with red, orange, yellow then white and the only thing missing is orange to make the transition nice and gradual. I found something on MH.com but only in 1/8 strips, I wanted to make b

Does anyone know how to make or buy out of ordinary EVA colors like orange? The available colors are extremely nice but I need orange for a particular color scheme I have. Thx

Gary are you sure you need rollers? LRSG or HBSG should do the trick and I'm thinking would flex alot more. Tuff butt is a good move, if you want the two piece functionality, Lakeland makes a saltwater aluminum reel seat that is ferruled....or take the wallet hit and pick up the Storabutt and have everything.

Has anyone tried the "resurrected version" of this finish? From a couple of posts that I just read about the original, it was nothing short of awesome..... I'm about to place an order through one of our sponsors and noticed they have it in stock. Jason

Was wondering is there any outline on how to build a fly rod tip to butt? I am going to build a rod for a co-worker and want to make sure I cover all the differences between a fly rod and a - lets say - saltwater rod. If there is a RodMaker issue that covers this that will work too. Whats a good but not insanely expensive 9' #8 2 piece? Jason
