David, thank you for taking measurements of the roller gap and comparing line diameters to this. I was just thinking about my next build and was curious as to the quality and of the roller itself is recessed or not. Much appreciated!please keep us posted and kudos to All American for the customer support.

Thank you for the reply. I'll look at the batson blanks in that category, you got me at the moderate action lol.

I'll be using 130lb hollow and hopefully no more than 45 lbs of drag. Just don't want a broom stick? Need something that has a nice bend, and not so much strain on my back as a stiff rod would do.

Herb, thanks for chiming in. The 5'6" blanks seems like an 80 lb rod though.

Just picked up a Mak Sea 30 for hopefull giant bluefin fishing here in the Northeast. I have a black hole giant for stand-up but curious on any other blank recommendations. I like a rod that is more moderate action than fast, and someone mentioned a calstar 655xxh. Not sure if a Gen 2 cow rod from black hole would work but interested in what some of you may recommend. As always, thank you all!

Sorry forgot to mention that the jigging world blanks are the Black Widow and there was a typo, I meant to type 120 and 150 gram rated blanks, I personally prefer the 150 gram for that type of fishing.

The abuse part from your friend makes me hesitant to recommend these blanks lol. The jigging world 120 and 250 gram rods are very good choices for fluking. The Rainshadow Revelation slow pitch medium is another great choice. Everyone that I've let use these rods are impressed, especially by the Revelation blank. If you want something that will take more abuse, american tackle jigging blanks or th

Grant, the receipt says alps turbo. I did look it up a couple nights ago and it did say hard aluminum oxide as the insert material as you mentioned, just not sure of how it compares to sic hardness, as the rods will be used with wire.

Ya, I'll have to send the manufacturer/supplier an email about it. Just unhappy about the revelation bc I specifically asked for sic guides

Had some custom rods built under the impression that the guides used were silicone carbide. Looking at the guides, the ring material is made of hard aluminum oxide, if memory serves me well. Will this material be able to handle using wire line through them?

I love my Black Hole Giant 6' stand up for tuna, just curious if anyone here knows of a similar blank on the market for stand up.

Norman, thank you for the info. I am well aware of the Black Hole Rods but I did not know about the Revelation blank from Batson. It seems very promising and I may buy one shortly...Black Friday pending that is! Ha! Thank you for the info again!

Thank you for the info, The prices aren't too bad but I'd be afraid of shipping cost if they're coming from over seas.

I thought you guys would be the people to ask this question to! I have 3 Black Widow Rods from Jigging World (150 gram) and am looking to see if anyone has any recommendations or knows of any blanks that are similar in action (parabolic). I am happy with them, just curious as I like trying new rods etc etc.

I'm looking to see if the 7'H Challenger Platinum would be a good blank for deep sea fishing here in the Northeast as well as in Florida, some jigging included. The amount of weight being used will range from 12 to 20 ounces.

Thank you for the reply Spencer. In your experience do you think a 7' Heavy action would be too stiff for this application, or "just right"?

Just looking to see if anyone is familiar with the United Composite line of rods here. I was wondering if anyone knew if the Challenger Platinum series would be good for bottom fishing here in the Northeast as well as in Florida. It will be used mainly with lead from 12-20 ounces. Looking for a sensitive tip coupled with a fast action. I usually end up bringing my 7' Shimano Tallus Blue Water rod

Thank you for the intel. The only reason that I'm going slick butt this time around is b/c it is a first time build and I want to get some experience installing a gimbal, reel seat etc. I do plan on building many more rods lol, it is going to become a greater sickness, at least I'll be able to build rods for the reels that I have laying around that need "homes". I've used American Tack

For any of you interested, the rod builder of my last wire line rod (same brand blank, heavy action instead of medium) used 2 size 16 guides and 3 size 12 guides plus the roller tip.

Piecing together a wire line rod for a first time rod build (this should be fun), it is a 6'6'' American Tackle blank AXWT66M. It will have a size 16 roller tip, but I'm unsure of the guide sizes that experienced rod builders on here would recommend. Also, I plan on installing a slick butt to the rod, is there any pertinent information that is specific concerning adding one to a rod blank that on

Thank you for the responses! I had not seen any wire line rods spiral wrapped and it seems that there is a good reason why, so I'll stick with the standard method of guide placement.

I'm going to be having a 6'6'' E glass fishing rod wrapped for wireline jigging striped bass, in the North East. Is having it spiral wrapped while using wire (60lb) out of the question? If not, can anyone recommend a size 16 roller tip for this rod? Thank you very much!
