I would suggest the Airwaves by American Tackle. Easy setup, very durable, and very cost effective. It comes with a guide for placement and there is no complicated math involved. I have these on many of my lighter builds.

I love the lightweight of the carbon fiber seats of American Tackle. Then you could just add whatever weight needed to balance it. If you want to thread it, you could always glue a threaded insert in, I have done this with good success.

The American Tackle ATX surf blank is so awesome, I was turned onto these by a very known rod builder. These things are just great! AXSU100M-2 would be my choice.

I love the American Tackle Matrix blank! I have built on very high end platforms and find this Matrix just performs better.

I really like the American Tackle Bushido blanks. With a jig that small I might even go with a drop shot or spin jig series. The drop shot is xfast but that would help at depths. The spin/jig is available in a 7'2" blank. Shorter rod might work better with deeper baits.

Don't think it is open to the public, but if you are a rod builder and own a business you can go.

I didn't think much of this until I saw it in person. It is simply stunning! Super lightweight and feels good in the hand. I really appreciate manufactures like American Tackle pushing the boundaries of building with the latest and best materials. We spend all this time building rods with the best components and now they just got better. These reel seats are so worth it, for the feel and loo

I don't recommend aluminum oxide for braid. I use the duralite or the nanolite microwave guides with great results. I primarily use braid.

I use the Microwave guudes because I feel there stronger, better built guides. The may both have similar castability, but I feel the construction of the Microwave guides is better. If your new to rod building there much easier to set up. Customers also like the way they look! I have done KR builds, and don't see why to use them over Microwave guides. I have fixed many KR guides because of eye

American Tackle Bushido CB72/8-15 or American Tackle Matrix MA-P7/8-17, these would be my choice.

I understand the stress-riser effect, but the blank is threaded as well. Once epoxy takes hold, it should become one with the blank. The difference being in the gaps where stress can occur is much less. I am not a fabricator or engineer, but I still like it.

I just want to say a little something about the new gaffs that American Tackle sells. I really love the fact that they actually screw into the blank. From an engineering standpoint, this adds strength and rigidity, both important in a gaff. I have built two of these and my customers love them. Both customers are very mechanical and appreciate the added structure of having it screw into the bl

Best combo on the market! I am glad that they come with an arbore already installed. I have built several split and one full length on the G2 grips. I also love the fact that there smooth, rough grips give me callouses after casting all day, plus they end up having more grip when wet.

I am so happy with mine, I can't say enough about them. They look good and they're super sensitive. There Aero is the most comfortable reel seat on the market, if your doing a spinning rod. I am building a blade next. I am sure it will be comfortable in the hand as I have used styles like this and am very happy with them.

I would use the Microwave Air guides, super lite and super durable. I am building a steelhead rod for drifting light line and using these.

I have used both and prefer the microwave system. They feel stronger and better built. Also as mentioned setup is super easy and I really like the way the guides are pressed into the ring. I had a boat captain say to me that he thought the microwave 30s would break and he can't get over how durable they are.
