Robert, do these articles address using monofilament as an overwrap on a tiger wrap? If so what website or magazine are you referring to and what does 10/2 and 22/5 refer to ?

This is another method to do a tiger wrap demonstrated by Doc Ski. My problem is not the method but rather once the mono is in place how do I to smoothly transition my thread up onto to the thicker mono.

I have done my base wrap for my tiger wrap and have 4 coats of epoxy down. I have tried different sacrificial thread sizes and can't seem to get a good tiger wrap. I do get a great tiger wrap when I wrap 40lb mono over it. I have never used mono as an overwrap and cannot figure out how I would go about securing the Monofilament ends. I'm aware I will need to lay down a black thread in the groves

I will be going to the EXPO on Saturday and will be staying for the RodMaker magazine reception at 6pm . I'm looking for someone who either needs a ride or could provide me with a ride. My wife and I were planning on going but her plans have changed at the last minute. .

I am attempting to build a number of rods using Gamecock colors of garnet and black for the guide wrapping and I want to use the same color scheme in some decorative marbling. Since they don't sell a Garnet dye I was wondering if I can mix CRB red with blue pigments together to make what looks close to a garnet color (RGB: (115,0,10)) and then just use that pigment mix to color my epoxy?

I am doing a fly rod build for a friend. He likes the way a tiger wrap looks. I am wanting to do one under the reel seat to match up with the main tiger wrap. I have been trying to find a seat and insert where the insert has enough space to allow me to do a finished tiger wrap on it and still be able to insert it in the reel seat. I can do the tiger wrap part but what I'm struggling with is figu

I bought 20 rod blanks in a grab bag deal but I'm having some difficulty figuring out how to order proper reel seats and handle components for each rod. I will be going to the Rod Building Expo and would like to buy the handle components there. The blanks are all different actions, lengths and sizes (5'-7') I am numbering and labeling each rod and will take OD measurements starting at the base an

I built rods back in the late 70's & early 80's. Decided to get back into the rod building game and thought it would be some good practice by making some rods for the extended family with these MudHole grab bag rods. I was taken back a bit though when 20 different rods arrived today with no idea what they were originally intended for and no idea where to start. I will give MudHole a call on M

My grab bag special of 20 rods from MudHole arrived today. I didn't realize they wouldn't have any labels on them. I have a collection of 20 rods with no identification on them. How do I figure out which ones to build as spinning rods and which ones as casting. They are all between 5'6" to 7' - Actions/Powers vary. How would I go about figuring a rods action or power and then determine w

Do you think the Microwave guide system will handle flyline okay? I guess a limiting factor I would need to account for is the tube case the rod travels in.

I plan on using light mono or fluorocarbon (2-6lb) or 10lb Power Pro braid (2lb dia) while spin fishing and then 4 - 5 weight for fly fishing.

I need to replace all the guides and tip on my Eagle Claw Travel master XLII fly/spinning pack rod. I took it on a trip to Hawaii 5 years ago and while I flushed the reel and handle area after I used it in the ocean I apparently forgot to flush the guides. The support rings for the ceramic guides rusted away. I'm not sure how to go about selecting proper guides for a rod that is a fly/spinning

I'm looking first to simply repair the guides and wraps on the rods I already have. I built maybe a dozen or so rods back in the early 80's and did some decorative wraps and weaves. I guess right now I'm just looking for a manual wrapper that will allow me to do some creative stuff without breaking the bank. I will also need a dryer as well. I'm hoping to keep it under $100 for now. There are s

Just found out due to a family medical emergency I won't be able to attend the expo. I was hoping to check out rod wrapper options there before buying one. I have one on line I'm considering buying would like an opinion but the rules won't allow me to list the site. Anyway to get some input without breaking forum rules.
Thanks

I'm getting back into rod building and will be going to the expo. I built about a dozen rods back in the early 80's and haven't done anything for about 20 years. From what I see much has changed since then. Any suggestions on what to look for and pick up at the expo. Any help or suggestions on what you think is a good economical manual rod wrapper and drying machine would be appreciated. Thanks
