Thank you Tom that’s what I kinda figured. I put some on a test wrap last night But was not patient enough to wait for it to dry to see what it looked like so i figured I would pop the question on here.

So I found an unopened bottle of prokote epoxy and the harder has turned amber in color. How much will this show up after it hardens over a wrap? Or should I just buy a new bottle?

I actually just got done re-reading an article in Rod Maker about the Science Behind this taken into account different measurements between your hand in the rod. I was just wondering if there was a general rule of thumb when ordering components as that is what I’m doing right now.

I’m building a 7’ extra heavy swim bait rod, spinning. Does any one have an idea of how long my grips should be? I am doing soild grips on this rod instead of split grips. Thanks, Kenne

How light can I get away with finishing my wraps? I finished an ultra light trout rod and was wondering if I can get away with a thin coat of epoxy? Thin enough you can steal feel the texture of the wraps? Will this hold ?

So what a should I start off with I don't really want to spend over $400 but I do want something that will last and perform. Would even entertain the thought of buying used. From what research I have done it loo

The tip-top I ordered for the original build I believe is a 6.5 and the tip-top for the ultra light is either a 5 or 5.5 I can't remember off the top of my head but my question is could I use Fle

I had an odd request to build a short fly rod customer ideal length would be 5'. I have never seen anything that short. I think I have seen a 5'5" but can't remember who made it. Another thought is what if I took a 5 ultra light rod and built on it? Kenne

I ended up just starting with a 16 and eventually working down to a 10 for runners and tip top! My anal-ness got the best of me I just couldnt wrap my mind around having a different size tip top then runner! I know it probably wouldnt have looked that bad or even really been noticeable but for my peace of mind having ten's as runners seemed to be the best solution. Kenne ps. Thanks guys fo

Perhaps instead of starting with a 12 I could start with a 16 and have 10's as runners I would prefer not to that's why I was in the hopes of gettin away with my choice in the 2nd link I posted.
