I have a nice conventional muskie rod that I'm going to convert to spiral wrap for use as a heavy duty saltwater casting rod. The rod is a St. Croix 8 foot heavy moderate rod model PGM80HM which can handle 40-80 pound test line and 1-8 ounce lures. Guides from the tip are located #1 at 3.25", #2 at 7.25", #3 at 12.25", #4 at 18.25", #5 at 25.5", #6 at 24", #7 at 44&q

Find an aluminum fabricator in your area. Tell them what you are looking for as far as ID, OD, & length. They deal with that stuff all day every day. If they don't have what your looking for they will know where you can find it. Copper is too heavy and if my high school chemistry is still any good, I think you might set up some kind of a galvanic reaction between copper and aluminum that you

Interesting topic. I'm new on this board so here goes. I'm going to build a trolling rod for a dual purpose. King Macks here in Pensacola Florida and Musky when I take my annual trip to Northern Minnesota & Canada. I found a blank that I think I want to work off from and I'd appreciate any input. The blank is made by United Composites and is a GUSA DHX US85 Monster. Specs are 8'6" long,
