Anyone have any feedback on this blank? Looking to use it for Hauge jigs or other light finesse presentations. I really like my other Revalation blanks but any other blank recommendations I’d like to hear as well. Joe

I want to build a casting rod for throwing jerkbaits and also some topwater using monofiliament. I am thinking something in the 6'9" range. Any good blank suggestions? Thanks, Joe

I was planning to build another spinning rod on a rainshadow revs610mxf which I really like but since I have to place an order through mud hole I was thinking of giving an MHX blank a try. I’m looking at either the ds821 or ds822 and looking for recommendations. I plan to use the rod for 1/8-1/4 oz hair jigs or jigs and plastics running 10lb braid. Thanks, Joe

I have a 822.5 and it's one of my favorite rods....looking for something a little lighter and not as fast. Joe

I want to build a spinning rod with a real sift tip but with a good backbone that will be used for both live bait rigging walleyes and also lighter drop shots. Would the RX7 ip842 fit the bill for these techniques or would the ip841 or ip843 be better options? I've never had the opportunity to handle any of them. Thanks, Joe

I've built around ten rods now and for the most part the finish om my guides has turned out great. However, when I apply finish to a larger area of the blank, such as where I would like to place a decal, it turns our wavy in the horizontal direction along the blank. I usually use an 1/8" brush (which my be part of my problem) and I make sure to brush horizontally to remove waviness. I als

Thanks for the input. The manufacturer is replacing the blank as they want to inspect it themselves. Joe

I measured the blank and found the worst spot, about 1ft. from the butt of the blank, to be .01 out of round (max-min OD). This was closer to .005 as I went middle forward on the blank. It almost feels like there is a slight ridge on one side vs. the blank being ovalized. Joe

I recently purchased a a new 6'8" M/F spinning blank and just before starting on the handle I was locating the spine and noticed that the blank is not perfectly round. I can't see it looking at the cross section at the butt, but it is easy to feel when rolling in your hand and it causes the blank to snap into place at opposite edges where it is slightly oblong when locating the spine. I ca

I need to take a .25" ID preformed cork grip and open it up to around .40" so I can get my reamer in it and I also need to drill out a butt cap. I assume that I don't want to remove it all in one shot. How much cork would you advise removing at a time with a drill bit? Thanks, Joe

I'm thinking of building a crankbait rod on a graphite blank. I throw mostly DT 10s, SK series 5s and some others that dive in the 8-12 ft range. I see that Bushido, MHX, and RX7 have graphite CB blanks so looking for opinions on those or others and and in which model. Thanks! Joe

The last rod I finished I really had trouble getting finish on the front side of the guide to seal up the guide foot on size 4 Kigan z guides. My 1/8" brush is too big to dab a little in front of the guide without getting finish up on or near the guide ring. Anyone have any tips or ideas for filling in the front of the guide? I was thinking of a small pin or something to push a little fin

I'm thinking of building a new lindy rigging rod for walleyes and looking for blank suggestions. I'd like it around 7' and ML power. Most blank manufacturers make a blank that is in that length and power so just want to hear some of your suggestions. I'd like to keep it $100 or less. Thanks, Joe

I think 7' is the most common but any length will work. I've used my MH bass rods all the way to my fiberglass planer board rods and they all work it just depends on how you fish. If you are going to hold the rod I would suggest a lighter graphite rod in the 6.5-7' in fast action but if you are going to put the rod in holders then I like a moderate action rod that loads up well before I remove

What is the ID of a Fuji ECSM real seat at the rear edge where it mates with the rear grip? What is the OD at that same location? I'm looking for a grip to that will work. Joe

I've decided that the decal that came with the blank I'm building on is too big and I don't want it on my rod so I'd like to instead write the model number and specs on by hand. Is there a pen or marker that i can write on the blank with and then put finish over? The blank is painted a gloss black and I'd like to write with silver or white lettering. Thanks! Joe

I'm going to be finishing my first rod soon and am just curious if it's best to do one or two coats of Flex Coat high build? I'm a little confused because the bottle says it can create a high build finish in one coat but the Flex Coat youtube video shows the guy doing one coat and hitting it with some heat and removing the excess and then later doing a second coat. I believe the reason was to e

That's what I was looking for. I know many of the EVA grips I have looked at come in a few IDs so I was more curious about that but I assume it's smaller so it will work on most blanks. Thank you, Joe

Does anyone know the ID of these grips that Fuji makes for their VSS reel seat? I can't find it on any site that sells it or in their catalog. Thanks, Joe

Any experience with the RS Revalation? That looks to be the model closest the the MHX I was considering in terms of price. Joe

Not technically my first build as I’ve built an ice rod but my first open water rod. I want to build a drop shot rod for 1/8-1/4 oz weights mostly to run with either 6lb mono/fluoro or 10 lb braid with a leader. Based on the specs I’ve decided on a MHX DS821 blank. Does this sound like a good choice for my application? For guides I’m thinking of the KR concept layout with alconite rings in

Has anyone reversed an American Tackle Aero reel seat so its in the uplocking position? How does it work? I hold my real with at most one finger behind the handle so it seems like the reel seat should go the other way to to put the bump in my palm. I haven't seen one like this in my research so I was curious. Thanks, Joe
