Thanks for the info. I was hoping the standard fly guides (that dont look like mini spinning guides) were still available in tit/sic, or even updated to black tit/sic.Ill probably go with the L series.

Hi again. Its been 5 years since my last build and noticing some changes... I used to build all my rods with fuji titanium/SIC guides (bass). Now all i can find for runners is model L in diff colors, diff ring material. The description says theyre available in titanium but i cant find anything indicating the frame material is titanium? I found KWs in titanium/SIC and even black titanium. Wh

Hi folks. Anyone have suggestions for a carbon grip that fits behind the sk2 Spinning seat? Fuji makes a cork one, but cant find any carbon fiber that indicates it will fit well.. Im not looking to build my own carbon fiber grips. Hoping someone has already found something? Thank you, -Mike

Thanks for all the replies. I'll keep looking around and see if I can find the source for the guides, if not I'll suggest using the closest match I can find ( hard to do with pictures).

The Veritas 2.0 rod shows "titanium/SIC" guides, so im gonna assume those are Fuji. But, maybe the titanium/Ti are proprietary for Abu??

Anyone know what guides are used on Abu Garcia Villian spinning rods? Their website shows titanium/Ti... I spoke with someone at Abu and they wouldnt tell me what guides they are. Thanks For any help. -Mike

Can I just use Citri strip and then wipe the paint off with a rag, or will it require scraping the paint off with some sort of paint scraper? Do I need to use the "afterwash" also? Or can I just clean up after with alcohol? Thank you, -Mike

Since posting this, I have been in touch with Batson. They weren't sure if the paint remover would affect the scrim and sanding is a risk of weakening the blank unless I get it perfect on every inch of the blank. I'm not familiar with citri strip, is it a harsh chemical, like paint remover?

Thanks for the replies. I will get some "citri remover" and see how that goes. Any suggestions on the grit of sandpaper to use? I dont want to gouge the carbon. I have not seen or held either of these blanks. Based on the weights specified online, they dont seem very light, but hopefully they are very sensitive (feel) and have a good swing weight..?? Do you think removing the pai

I want to try a Batson Immortal or Eternity blank. I prefer my blanks to be raw graphite finish and not painted. Is it possible to sand the color off these blank models? Thanks, -Mike

Thanks for the input Tom. The blank is rated to 5/16 oz lure weight. So, if I change to a KR 20h do you think I could keep the same KR 8h and then the 5.5L? Or would I need to change those guides as well?

The battery is dead in my calipers but with a measuring tape, the top of the spool is ~1 13/16" across. I'm using brand new 8lb test yozuri hybrid "ultra soft" copolymer line, 0.11" diameter.

I just finished building a spinning rod using a MHX-HM-SJ781 Spin-Jig-Rod-Blank. I used Fuji titanium SIC, KR 16h, 8h, 5.5L, then 6, #5 TLSG fly guides to a TFCST 4.5 tip. I use the rod with a Shimano ci4 2500 spinning reel. I measured the stripper 161/2" from the top of the reel spool mounted in the reel seat. The next guide is 9" from stripper, next guide 8 1/2", then 6" to

Well, I just tried the heat/rubberband method. The tip didn't come off but I was able to move it straight. Sounds like that's not gonna be a reliable bond anymore. I'm afraid to heat the tip past what I've already done because I don't want to ruin the blank? Should I just keep heating until it comes off? It seemed to be putting a serious bend directly in the 1/2" section of the blank where t

Thanks Gabe. Wasn't sure if heat worked on that type of epoxy. Do you think I could just heat it and straighten the guide and then allow the epoxy to re-set? Or will it not re-set or set to fast to make an adjustment? Thanks,

I just finished a rod and noticed I must have bumped the tip or something because it is no longer straight. Can I heat the tip in some boiling water and be able to move it if I used the 5 min rod bond? Or any other way to get that tip moved? This is a bass casting rod with a 4.5 fuji FCAT tip. Thanks, -Mike
