I used pigment instead of the powder. Now it is not drying. What can I do to fix it? Can I apply a light coat of epoxy again? Do I need to start all over? This is the last step for me before it is finished. I read the past posts and I see powder is used. I am looking for a remedy for my situation to save this rod.

I have just been brought a rod guide and the inside ring. They are both metal (not a plastic insert). Is there a way I can fix the metal insert without taking off the guide and replacing the whole guide?

This is my first attempt and fixing a broken blank. I have read the section in Tom's book and searched the internet. The rod is broken about 10 Inches from the tip I measured the blank and it is 3.09 at the beak ( butt end) and I bought the smallest ferrule I could find. I have it glued together but my question is how to wrap it? From the blank to the lip of the ferrule seems like a large ju

I am using a lite coat epoxy with several applications and am having trouble getting it to dry. I have had it drying for 4 days. Currently , I have it in front of a glass enclosed gas fireplace for periods of time (1 hour) at a time. What can I do to speed the process or can it be fixed? I have a heat gun but there are decals in the area which would be ruined Any ideas?

I have looked at the forum history files but can not find the answer to my problem I have a rod I did some marbling on about two weeks ago and it is still not dry. It has been turning that long I have used my heat gun and placed it in a room over 80 degrees for a couple of days. It is still not dry. I used the paint from one of the suppliers on the left ( not the powdered paint ) and bru

Thanks everyone for your advice. One more question. I was in the hardware store and picked up a can of Ultra Cover Clear Gloss Rust-Oleum. Not sure I want to use it but looking to see if I should give it a try as a final coat.Remember, I messed up and placed the guides on a blank I painted with krylon. Will this work or just make it worse?

Instead of going to the auto body shop, I used Krylon on a graphite rod. I have three coats on and it is chipping. What did I do wrong? I did not place a finish like spar finish for a final coat. Any suggestions will be of help I just finished wrapping the guides and if there are any suggestions besides pulling them off I would appreciate your comments Thanks

I use a lighter that has a long stem and small flame. It is one of those lighters you start a fire in the fireplace. Press the trigger and it lights release and it goes out

I looked in the library and did a search but did not see an answer to my question. I have turned my first wood handle. I used clear wood turners finish after sanding. Should i leave it as is or put another finish on e.g. polyurethane? Any recommendations would be most appreciated

I have my first rod repair and have a few questions. The guide is broken. What is the best way to try to match a guide? I know it is a basic question and most of you are getting a good chuckle now but I would like to do a good job. The guide is a single foot and looks to be silver in color. I tried looking at Mudhole and other vendors. How do I know for sure what guide it could be. Thanks

First time I am building a rod with a fighting butt cap and have a question I have a preformed cork butt cap and the opening is large compared to the end of the rod blank. I used some masking tape to fill up the gap. I know enough to insert something inside the blank to cause a blockage for the epoxy to fill. Is there a better way? I have searched the files here and the internet. Than
