Looking at some recent posts of decorative wraps and wondering to myself just how long did the poster spend doing these works of art. I know I'll never get to this level due to my lack of patience and skill.

After upgrading my wrapper with an alps chuck and DC motor, with reverse wrapping contol and variable speed for drying and my crosswraps, I am thinking if I knew what I know now, I would buy the parts and make my own if I had to start over again. I think it would actually be about the same cost and you get a better unit. Just needs a fair amount of research for parts and a little electrical knowl

One thing I have found handy with my variable speed is, that is has a digital readout, it isn't the rpm of the motor but a function of the speed so you can adjust quite accurately and quickly to a speed you have used before for wrapping, epoxy applying or whatever.

Further to my post a month ago when I converted to a DC motor, it has worked so much better than my original AC wrapper, the reverse function for the foot pedal is a blessing for a 70 yr old with one eye. Since last post I have got rid of the remote to change polarity as it did not function well and just put a 3 way switch at the middle of the wrapper track that is easily accessable. Using the mo

Thanks Norman, that's the direction I was going in. I purchased one for a spey rod that I hoped would work but it wasn't large enough to accept the reel foot, I am going to ask a supplier if they have one that would work.

Would anyone know of a skeleton reel seat for a spinning rod that the foregrip can be hooded, cr2 cork could be used if required, and will accomodate a Shimano 3000 or similar. I have searched all the suppliers and haven't been able to find one.

Thanks to Roger and Mark's helpful posts I got inspired and converted to DC. Now have single motor with variable speed drying mode and a wrapping function with remote reverse. So far works perfectly, and sure makes things easier. My shaping is done at a separate location on my lathe so don't need a really fast wrapper. The 2 features that I find are most heplful are being able to speed up when

I'm guessing the software is a basic CAM program, a graphic software program would give better files to export to the laser's software.

24. Re: Shipping
Any sign shop with a wide format printer will have lots of 3" heavy cardboard cores used for vinyl, similar to the carpet store idea.

I know your situation quite well, in my case I only have vision in only one eye as well. This year I think I finally have the system that works for me. I bought the CRB LED Magnifier for the HWS wrapper from Mudhole and use this instead of the thread carriage on my power wrapper, I just move it along and clamp to the track as I work, for lights I have just a small LED bar light on a stand right

For cutting the O Rings I purchased a scapel with blades off @#$%&, amazingly sharp and pointed, cuts the bands easily, I'm sure these thing could circumcise a field mouse.

A signmaker with a print cut vinyl printer should be able to make a small laminated vinyl decal which woud work fine, use cast vinyl if you can.

Thanks for the ideas, I'm limited to by space to moving my wrapper, this way seems to work for now. Since I'm attempting my first fades I thought I would make my own respooler for the larger spools, got the idea from a previous post about the crayola wrapper, cost me about $30 and works just fine.

Agreed, I use my fingers to guide the thread as well, but with this platform I have the 5 or so different threads available with some tension, and as I proceed with the guide wraps down the blank I'm not moving the supports all the time and readjusting the blank's level.
