i once used high build finish on a 9" handle on a personal build when they first came out. i wish i never did, i put shrink tubing on shortly after right below the reel seat and a short piece down at the butt. like a split grip.

i do an under wrap wiith some hook keepers to avoid scratching the blank. . On rods i use for Tx rigs ill put the decal right above the hook keeper so there is another coat of finish to keep heavy tungsten weights banging against the blank.

I was just wondering what techniques guys build on popping blacks for as compared to mag bass. So far I've used them for crankbaits and chatterbaits.

Does anyone here thin (Bullards)at all. I love their finish but I'm used to the viscosity of TM-L for my first coat on wraps. Decorative work I usually just use straight high build.

For an eight foot surf rod I was looking to do a shrink wrapped handle. Does anything need to be wrapped underneath or can I go shrink wrap right to the blank?

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've done a spiral wrap and can't seem to find my notes of my last one.. I was going to do 10 at zero 8 at 90 and use 6's at 180 or are any of you having luck with micro running guides?

I believe it was George Roth that modified the casting seat.

I actually prefer the 72ml for dropshotting. I do like the 610mxf for a shaky head rod though. But that's just me.

I'm going to be building a Phenix Recon2 744 casting. I was wondering what do you find to be the most comfortable casting reel seat? I've been using Alps Tex touch on my last few builds but I was wondering what people find the most comfortable for larger hands?

I'm looking for recommendations for a micro guide transition for a 7'2 ml using a 3000 or 2500 spinning reel. I was considering 20 10 and a 5 fly guide with 5 micro to tip. Any input would be appreciated . Thanks
