Thanks Spencer. I have used Aero seats on other spinning rods and find them comfortable, and should be easy to combine with the Soft Touch Grip.
Good observation on the length of the grip- mine also is 13.5 inches log including butt cap (13 inches without EVA cap). That is not much longer than other steelhead/salmon rods I have built.

I recently purchased a North Fork Composites’ 14-inch Soft Touch Grip, which I am considering as the rear grip on a 9.5-ft spinning rod for steelhead. I am curious if anyone has any experience with using a 14-inch Soft Touch grip for a steelhead rod, and what type (and size) of a spinning reel seat would be a good match. Many thanks, Tim.

Thanks everyone. Trimming a rod would open up more possibilities. Looks like I could get an off-the-shelf blank from St Croix or Northfork.
Spencer- where is that Lamiglas blank located? I am in Seattle.

Does anyone know of a short casting-rod blank, in the 5- to 5½ –foot range, for bass fishing?
I will be making short- to medium-length casts around docks and other shoreline cover, in small natural lakes, using both topwater/crankbait lures and plastic worms. Also, I will be mostly casting overhead while sitting in a canoe/kayak, rather than standing in a boat.

At a used goods store, I purchased an old blank with the label "1862 Genuine Lamiglas Kent Wash." The blank is yellow in color, one piece, and 8-feet long.
Anyone know something about this blank? I did not realize that Lamiglas was once in Kent, WA.

I am building a medium-action spinning rod, for both freshwater (steelhead in rivers) and saltwater (coho off the beach).
I plan to use PacBay Minima fly guides as runners, either the solid-titanium frame w/chrome ring (TF3XG) or the TiCH-finish frame w/TiCH ring (CF4CG). They look similar to me.
Any discernible differences between them, for the average angler?
